Georgia and Simon (GA)

Member Since 2010
Simon had a fairly flat run yesterday, dipping into the blues. Not sure what to do at this point. Probably will need to go back up to the 2.00 units since I don't see too much action on this. The only thing I'm nervous about is that for the next two weeks, I am not going to be home alot. I would rather make sure Simon is safe than drop down and I'm not here. Any suggestions?

Simon is doing well but my poor Cleo is having puking problems every day. She is on pepcid 2x/day but think it is time to ask the vet about ondansetron. She is a CRF kitty and she always does the pukus thing first thing in the AM and then before I feed her at night. Both these times are when her stomach is probably most empty. I wish Simon would let her eat some of his food in the automatic feeder but he is such a pig and knocks her out of the way. I think a little more food might help her in the middle of the day and night.

Keeping all our kitties close in my heart and please say a extra special prayer for Rocket and Claudia today.

Re: 12/13 Simon AMPS 218

if you were to get another feeder would Cleo eat or would Simon steal it all? I have two, one for each cat, although of course the glutton Tray often gets to them both
Good luck with Cleo and with Simon's numbers, it's hard when you're not home much.

Re: 12/13 Simon AMPS 218

Simon, how about a touch of green now and then? There is a lot going on this time of year. It makes it hard to know what to do about dosecreases. Safety first, though.

Simon rules the food! Poor Cleo, sounds like she needs those late afternoon and night snacks.

Re: 12/13 Simon AMPS 218

Aw...poor Cleo. I'm sure it's not ideal, but is keeping her in her own "room" during the day an option, so she can have food available that Simon won't be able to steal? I know that can't always work out...all of my guys would be upset at being confined like that. It does sound like her tummy is upset from being to empty.

I'm not sure what you should do with Simon's dose...other than - as you know - you've got to go with what you're comfy with. If increasing him right now concerns you, then maybe waiting until you're going to be around more is the better idea. No need to add to the holiday stress!

Have a great day, Georgia!

Amy

Re: 12/13 Simon AMPS 218

Hi Georgia,
I hope that you can solve the problem with Cleo's food and I hope that she will be feeling lots better soon. Simon: eat your own food and leave Cleo's alone!!

I think that at this busy time of year you could leave Simon's dose where it is. Raising it by adding that little bit of fat probably would be fine, but if it is less stressful for you to leave it at the skinny 2.0 for 2 weeks, you could do that.
Sending some healing vines to Cleo,

Re: 12/13 Simon AMPS 218

Good morning Georgia! Nice yellow with a touch of blue for Simon today! I would do whatever you are comfortable with on the dose. I understand your concern though.

Poor poor Cleo! Turnup does the same thing if she doesn't get enough food when Tarragon is in his "inhaling" stage. Maybe putting her in her own room like Amy suggested would be an option. I know you hate to separate them like that though.

Have a wonderful day!

Re: 12/13 Simon AMPS 218

Poor leo - I hope she feels better soon. It's hard when you have a kitty that raids the others bowls... Mannie has a tendency to do that too - the little piggie. I suspect that if you ahd another feeder Simon would ge tthat too...

I think you need to go with what you are comfortable with for SImon's dose. It is such a busy time of the year and we are all stretched so thin. If he's not too out of line with his numbers, maybe it would be best to leave things as they are until you have roe time? Good luck with your decision!

Re: 12/13 Simon AMPS 218 +5.5 283

Yuck on the 283! I may need to reconsider and bring Simon back up a little to the 2 units

I wish I could get two feeders and Cleo would eat hers, but Mr. Simon will just get in her dish. Poor Cleo knows that Simon rules the food situation and when the automatic feeder goes off, she doesn't even try to make a run to the food. I could separate them but she and Simon love snuggling with me at night. That is really the only quality time I have with Cleo because she likes to sit in "her closet" most of the time. I could leave her in the room and shut the door during the day to see how that works. The only problem is that I will have to add another litter box to that room and it is the guest room. I am having family stay there for the holidays and I don't think they will like a litter box in their bedroom!

Thanks for everyone's great advice. I appreciate it so much!

Re: 12/13 Simon AMPS 218 +5.5 283

Hi guys .. Looks like simon might be asking for that extra drop of juice .. just to get him back to some lower numbers .. If you were to get the second auto feeder, and have them go off at the same time would that help? I mean, Simon can only be at one right? And kitties are so easy to train, show cleo where the second feeder is? Anyways, just a suggestion .. Hope you guys have a great day!

Re: 12/13 Simon PMPS 330

Double darn on this PMPS! My DH tested because I couldn't get home from work. I told him to go ahead and give Simon the 2 units. Hope to see a change tonight.

Devon, getting 2 feeders and having them go off at the same time is a good idea. I might be getting Cleo her own feeder as a gift this year.

My vet wasn't in the office today so I have to wait until tomorrow to ask him about Cleo's nausea.
