Good evening, L&LL,

Rusty's sinus/nasal problems were not getting any better (nasal discharge tinged with blood), so we went to the vet this afternoon. His temperature was normal. He just has his usual sneezing/noisy nasal breathing magnified and made worse by winter dryness. He got a shot of Convenia, for good measure (it helped with his pneumonia in September). We will put water pots on the radiators and run the shower for him to breathe steam. He gained back 1/2 lb. (yay). Vet said we might try an anti-viral medication, but she called the pharmacy and it costs $100 for 1 pill(!). Rusty won't take pills, so we'll just go with what we have.

This evening he is napping in his basket. He had pretty good appetite when we got back home from the vet.

The snowstorm isn't supposed to be significant in our area, but west and south of here they are expected to get about 14 inches of lake-effect snow. Here it's supposed to get very cold tomorrow and go down to zero or below tomorrow night. Time to get out our door quilts! (our house has 5 glass-enclosed, unheated porches because it was a cure cottage during the tuberculosis era, when our village was a cure mecca). We put quilts on the doors to the porches to keep the cold out of the house proper. (TB patients were expected to spend as much time as possible on their porches, breathing the clean mountain air summer and winter (when they wrapped themselves in blankets.)

Rusty is waiting for his bowl to be held. bbl

Jeesh!! I mean Rusty is worth every dime, but dang!!! That's crazy, especially since it's a shot in the dark whether it'd actually help or not!!

I have a huge back porch that's filled with windows too. I keep a heavy blanket in the doorway all year long to keep the heat out during the summer and the cold out during the winter.

Hope the shot helps him out again!! Send us a little snow (just a little now....don't go overboard!)
