Certainly having better numbers than the last couple of days.
Started with 4 units and certainly hoping to keep it at this level unless an unexpected arises.
AMPS 217 +2 141 +4 98 +6 136

He started rising but had some food, he seemed very hungry and was persistent.
Unfortunately he still have quite long time to go before his evening shot.

Shawn, these are nice numbers.

I can't remember. What is your feeding schedule? Is he getting small meals during the day?

He gets several meals a day, only chicken breast cooked or raw and low carb FF.
But he sometimes eats more than he should I think, he gets very hungry and follows me around
asking for food.

I think this is part of the diabetes. Until Tubby is regulated, I believe the idea is to feed him what he wants. Diabetes is called "the starving disease," because the body is not able to absorb the nutrients. I think we're supposed to feed them as much (low carb) food as they want while BG is out of control.

Is the chicken meant to be a treat or a substantial part of Tubby's diet? It's ideal as a treat. If it is a big chunk of Tubby's calories for the day, you will need to consider whether Tubby is getting a nutritionally sufficient diet. Plain chicken doesn't contain all of the necessary nutrients for a complete diet. I feed a combination of raw and canned. I use a pre-mix that provides all of the vitamins and minerals that are necessary for a cat's diet.

The articles in "pre-mix" are very interesting and educational. Tubby has occasional regurgitation and for the life me could not figure out
what was causing it. This article pretty much pin pointed the problems which I was suspecting.
My hat's off to Dr. Marcella Ridgway from the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Urbana.
His research are most fascinating on the subject. Thank you for sending this article!

Tubby's BGL numbers:
AMPS 217 +2 141 +4 98 +6 136 +8 121 +10 159 +11 202

I agree -- great article on regurgitation/vomiting, a problem we've had as well.

I noticed this:
- MOISTURE CONTENT: preparing the food with too much water (making it too soupy) can be a cause, and we have seen great success in feeding cats a firmer food in smaller quantities, and restricting access to water one hour after feeding.

I may have been adding too much water. It would never occur to me that this would cause regurgitation.

I hope I'm doing this right. I was highly criticized for opening 2 condos or something like that. I still don't know
exactly what its all about but my understanding is for every 24 yours I have one of these threads only to change
headings. I hope this is what everyone tried to relay here!

Well, if this is not right someone please let me know and possibly send a sample so I can copy.

Tonight at 9 PM Tubby was shot 4 units at 173 BG. The lowest for pre-shot here.
Lets hope he is not dropping too low!

Changing the subject, hope I'm not getting censured tonight, only trying to follow the rules  . I know I always mange to get someone upset!

Hi Shaun: Condo looks fine. Follow the same format tomorrow morning when you open a new one. You can paste today's condo there for reference. Tuffy had a nice day. Continued success. Just takes a little time to remember and apply all we have to learn for the sugarkitties. Have a good night. Get a +1 or +1 and see where he is going. You can feed a small meal to keep him for going low.

You're getting the hang of it.

If you want to display your most recent numbers so everyone can see them, you need to edit the subject line in the first post of the day. That's the only subject line that is visible on the Board. To move your condo to the top of the board, you need to add a new post.

I tried to do as your instruction, I'm not sure if it worked!

Shawn

Your subject header tonight looks absolutely fine. Any time you want to edit the subject header, just go back to the FIRST post of the day, hit the "edit" button, change the subject header, and click on "submit". It looks like on your very last post, you changed the subject header of that one...you don't need to do that. Only the very first one of the day as you progress. When we look through your condo, it's easy to see what Tubby did today. Just look at some of the other condos and you'll see. But so far...you've the subject header just fine!
