12/11 LT AMPS 180 +2 144 +3 97 PMPS 177 +3 114 PMPS 208 (thieved contraband)

Tomorrow I’m going to try splitting the food again into 2 meals: 50 grams at fasting and 25 @ +2. My fear is that it’s going to push our fasting numbers even higher

It somehow feels that he is metabolizing too fast so there is nothing left toward the last few hours of the cycle. We are at a loss of what to do

What I'm seeing is an early nadir. It may be that what I'm seeing is influenced by how you're already feeding, though. Gabby was an early nadir kitty. Looking at her spreadsheet may be informative for you. Basically, what I did was to front load her cycle with food. I fed at shot time, +1, +2, and in the beginning at +3. Eventually, the +3 was eliminated since I couldn't be home that long on work days.

What are you feeding LT? If you are using a very low carb food, you may need to use something that's a bit higher in carbs and see how that works.

One other thing to consider is that any change in food or how you're timing the meals doesn't necessarily have an immediate response. It took several weeks for Gabby's system to accommodate the change.

First, thank you so much, @Sienne and Gabby (GA) for your thoughtful response to my concerns. I read your post after we fed. My husband didn’t want to split it up this morning, so he got a full meal this morning. I looked at Gabby’s spreadsheet and you are right, it looks like LT’s. I read your post, to my husband, and he’s on board with doing 3 mini meals. Did you split Gabby’ meals into 3 equal parts? LT is currently eating 75 grams/meal of Friskies pates that are 4-5%. I’m willing to increase the carbs, but to what? 8-9%? Again, we appreciate the time you are taking to help us.

I split up the AM meal into portions (3 or 4) that I then fed at AMPS, +1, +2, and +3 (if I was feeding in 4 installments). I did the same thing at PMPS.

If you were to increase the carbs, I'd try the 6 - 8% range first. Some cats actually do better on a bit more carbs. I would not suggest changing the frequency of meals AND changing the carbs at the same time. If you do both at the same time, you won't know what is or isn't working. If you make sequential changes, you'll be better able to know what is or isn't working.

Just keep in mind, adjustments to food and carbs are truly ECID. It's a matter of trial and error and attempting to figure out what works for your cat. And of course, cats do not like to be predictable and LT will, no doubt, throw a monkey wrench into the mix.

Thanks for clarifying that for me:). I think we will start with 3 meals and allow that to settle. We’ll probably start tomorrow morning so I can deal with any issues that come along and can monitor mid and late cycle BGs.
