Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well this wonderfully chilly Sunday morning! Mom and I are keeping warm, snuggling with the 6 felines and one droller and I'm trying to get up some energy to go outside (buuuurrrrr) and put up some Christmas Lights.
Spot has been doing well....he pulls some high numbers and some lower numbers and I've been adjusting his insulin to see what will work better for him. He wasn't feeling to well on Thanksgiving and threw up a few times in the morning and his numbers were on the higher side for a few days. Vet visit showed nothing wrong and whatever he had worked itself out and that was that. I also wasn't sure if the insulin was toast, so I opened a new pen and got the same results.
He had his dental on the 8th, had all 6 teeth cleaned. All was well. However, he again started to throw some higher than usual numbers and I believe it was because his shed was emptied.
His insulin needs have changed. He went from getting .02u to .5u then to.75u. then back to .5u. He is currently on .75 now to help get his shed filled up and things back on track. He is on the heating mat now, snoring up a storm. He has also begun to sleep next to me again, on my left side, mostly all night long. Not many instances of zippy pants lately, except when he's "running for his life" when the other furrys chase him. And speaking of other furry's...... I now have a 6 cat home. You all remember GeeCee, the garage cat, well, he was added to the household in August, right after the Pgh. reunion, making the total of cats 4. In October, a friend of mine moved in and she brought two kitties with her...Tad and Squeekz (formerly known as Eggo). Although my friend "lives" in the lower level, her cats spend most of the time up here on my level. To my surprise, my four have adapted very well to them being here. Squeekz is about the same age/size as my GeeCee and they chase each other around all the time. Occasionally they, along with Ali, who is the only female kitty, decide to gang up on Spot and chase him around. Spot being the cat that he is, doesn't really enjoy this and he will run run run trying to get away from them. His only sanctuary is up on the counter by his timed feeder. For some reason the chasers don't follow him up there. It's kind of funny to watch Spot running away from them, but I have to go and get him from the counter and baby him because the big bad kitties were after him again, lol.
Mom is doing better after her surgery and mini stroke. She returned back to work a few weeks ago, which is good because she gets out of the house (she can drive now) and gives her some exercise. She is having some memory issues, she had some before the stroke, but it's a little more prevalent now and it's mostly short term memory issues. Nothing to bad tho.
Well, that's what's going on here, in a nutshell! I'm glad to see some of our kitty's go OTJ and sad to see that some are having some medical issues and/or have crossed over the bridge. My thoughts and prayers are going out to them all. Hope everyone has a wonderful day....and keep warm!!!
