Dr. Amanda called a few minutes ago and said that Tawny is still doing well (not going backwards) and if she continues to do well today she can come home tomorrow!!!!!!!
I am almost too scared to bring her home.
My house is clean, her "vetting room" is clean, the "vetting wall" is papered with info, tips, instructions, techniques, cards & pix. There is hook above the table for hanging bags for giving SubQ fluids. I have 12 boxes of BBK strips and 10 boxes of BG strips, 4 pens of Lantus. I will get some of that high calorie LC Wellness food at PetSmart when I go by there on the way to pick Tawny up tomorrow. Thank God for plastic.
What else do I need to do? To get? I will spend most of this evening after I get out of THS perusing this last month's worth of posts for any advice or tips I have missed.
Dr. Amanda also said that she raised Tawny's dose to 3.0 (good!). Tawny is eating kibble on her own, so not getting much via the e-tube. I want to know what you all think about this. Input? Ideas? Experience? I need some direction here. The vet is saying let her eat anything she wants on her own and only use the tube as necessary if she doesn't eat or doesn't eat enough.
Tawny will be coming to work w/me every day for a while from now on, there is an office in the back where she can stay. The girl who owns the diner at the store used to vet-tech and she is willing to help me w/Tawny anytime I need her to. She's not school-trained, she was on-the-job trained, but when I talk to her about some of these issues she understands better than the average person w/no experience would.
Tawny is also getting ondansetron now and will come home w/a scrip for that. I ordered 2 Kitty Kollars today. Thank you Karrie for covering the costs of an ondansetron scrip for Tawny and a Kollar, and your advice on calling around about the price of the ono, the prices ranged from $30.00 (cheapest-local family-owned pharmacy) for a 30-day supply of 4mg non-dissolvable to $122.92 (highest-Walgreens). I called 6. I actually called the local store back a 2nd time to verify that $30.00 was the right price, everybody was so high I couldn't believe it, but it was confirmed by the person in charge.
I also need: the best "recipe" for tube feeding food, or will the vet send me home w/that? I have some ClinicCare, what should I mix w/it?
I will start participating in the FAF group too Karrie, reading old posts and asking any questions. I can already see that it, like FDMB, will be a valuable resource.
OK guys, hammer me with instructions! We are ready.
Scared, but ready.
