Yesterday was.... more of the same day in MannieLand. Lots of yellow and pinks... We seem to be slowly recovering from that horrid black bounce for two days ago. :shock: :? I think so of this too is his internal organs learning to process two new meds that have been introduced . He needs time to settle with it all, it simply is the way he works, so we will give it too him. . This morning I will also be taking him up to the vetty for a very quick trip - one more attempt to see if they can get a urine sample from him, as it just isn't happening here at home. He is so so cunning... I can keep him enclosed in a room, with that silly stuff the vets use to collect sample and he will hold it until he is sprung... I've followed him around with a ladle, and the minute i stop to tend to something else, that is when he goes... so one more time to the vet, and I hope they can get a sample before he pees in his carrier, or down the front of the vet tech. aiyee!! and Ann: I have not forgotten about the LB you use - I just haven't been able to get to Petsmart yet... ANYWAYS: Mannie: think blue! think green , OK? lubs ya big guy! cat_pet_icon

All is well in MannieLand, or at least it will be once the vetty trip is over. :-D :-D Our rains are back, big time! Yesterday was a sleepy day for Mannie. It was windy out, and very wet most of the day. I don't blame him for snuggling with the Nanners in his bed. :cool: Nicholas greeted him when he arrived: " HI Man-NIE!". Mannie poked his head around the corner, let Nicholas give him pet, then it was back to his bed. He did come for DGS's breffis. He is still perplexed as to why Nicholas thinks raspberries are so good... BUT! We had another kitty kiss - YAY! I love those....ever so gentle, and one very patient kitty. :cool: This morning we had a great test, feed and shoot and clean plate club , purrs and lots of cuddles. Normalcy in MannieLand. :cool:

Have a great day everyone. It will be catch up day here for sure: and laundry and shopping (hooman and furkid), bills.... just about everything. :lol: And some time just to relax. it has been a great week with Nicholas, but I am so looking forward to a few hours with nothing to do but spend time with a good book. :-D And maybe a shore hike if the weather is better than it is now... :roll:

Hey everybody!! What's up? Wasn't it the best with Maui? I so lubbed the plane - WOW! And her condo. WHOA! Griillin' poolside! Da-BOMB! Hey -you guys wanna go skiing or snowboarding today? We gots lots of snow in the mountains here. Maybe we could set up a small grillin' spot next to the bus or sumthin'! I gots lots of fleece an stuff for everybody. And pots of hot tuna toddies on the stove, and some cocoa too. You guys in? Let me know... I am ready for anything! ~~ Mannie

And completely OT: Here are some photos from DGS's and my adventures yesterday: swimming: a long solid morning of swimming. He was in that water for over two hours, and even then I had to drag him out, again. What a great time for him. It was another day of non-stop motion. He loves to jump in, once again it was over and over and over.... :lol: :lol: After that, and his much needed nap, we we were off to the Sammamish River and a river park in Bothell. HI Michelle - I was just thinking ... if Mannie goes in the carrier, what about putting a pan in the bottom of the carrier and just taking that in? Maybe one of the aluminum ones that you could twist and squash into the right shape? It would certainly be fresh urine! :lol: :lol: :lol:

And the river in and out of the water, too! :lol: I missed the ducks one. Good luck at Vetty for a pee sample. I wonder if placing some water in front of him would help. Too funny with following Mannie around with the laddle. :lol: Have a good day cathing up and relaxing and maybe a mini hike. I hear the rain is all your way and San Francisco, too. We did get some yesterday afternoon, and it was a nice rain, nice temps.

Morning guys, oh no another vetty trip, poor Mannie! Paws crossed for a urine sample! We need both of our boys to hit the blue and green, Scrabble has been missing the boat on that one too. Hope Mannie calms down from the visit and shows you some good numbers today. Enjoy your Caturday!

Good luck with the pee sample.... The stuff that the vet gave us didn't work, Smokey held it for a good 8 hours until the vet's office closed. But fish tank gravel worked for us.... Finally. :smile:

236 @ +5.3. Thanks all for the visit - I will answer all in a few. but for now:

VET UPDATE
ok..... I had to leave Mannie there so that that could sedate him with their version of kitty krack, as he was not cooperating (WIGGLE CITY!!!), had urine to give, and I really needed to get this done. I had a suspicion that something was brewing with him: high BG's, and just a gut feeling... surf enough! He has crystals in his urine and well as "massive" bacteria. SO.... Since he was sedated the vet was able to get a sample directly from the bladder via needle , and a C&S will be done to determine which bacteria, etc are present. For now he will be on Clavamox until the C&S confirms or tells us we need a different antibiotic. FUN!, and never a dull moment in MannieLand. :shock: :-D :-D

Brought him home to a 236. not too bad.... so far no vetty stress BG's. :lol:

Hi Michelle,

Oh wow! If it's not one thing, it's another. Fingers and paws crossed that the antibiotics will do the trick and that Mannie will be all better in no time. What kind of crystals? I believe that Dr. Lisa discusses both kinds (or maybe it is Dr. Hodgkins in her book "Your Cat"). I'll look it up and let you know. Rusty had struvite crystals last year, but they cleared up without medication. I believe that one of Lisa's (Do Lou) kitties gets crystals. You might P.M. her, since she is also a vet tech and has dealt a lot with this issue.

Have a good day with your book (after the chores, and hopefully the walk).

Morning Liz ~O) ~O) ~O) I thought so too - I will have to remember that one: urine harvesting. :lol: :lol: :lol: Yupp, numbers are better, and now so glad I know the reason they were so off the charts.... THX on the day of quiet - I hope to get there this afternoon. :cool: We start the AB'd tonight, so hopefully he will feel better. He's really been a-symptomatic, just a little "off"... Now I know why.

Oh yes on anything with water - he loves it all. The pool has been such a good ting for him too. Well, by hook or by crook we got a pee sample. I knew I needed too, as my suspicions were ion target - another UTI. :roll: Yes - we are in the midst of another very rainy day. It as subsided some So I will head out shortly for a wailk. I heard on the news about SF - 12" of rain! omg on that....

Oh my gosh Michelle.
I'm glad the vet found something to explain Mannie's high numbers. Now you can get him on the road to recovery, as soon as you find out the proper AB. Maybe this one is the right one, and it's already killing those nasty bugs, making our boy sick!

Poor baby. Sounds like it would be uncomfortable for a guy, trying to eliminate crystals from his sensitive body part.
Yay Mannie, mama's gonna make you all better.

Hey Michelle, maybe Mannie would prefer cranberries to blueberries and raspberries. I hear they're good for UTI's :-D

Oh no, so sorry about Mannie and the UTI's, but like the others have said before me, now you know why the high numbers. Now he can be treated and get back to normal. :lol: :lol: Too funny what Barb said about the cramberries vs, raspberries.

Good to hear that you had a successful vetty visit and harvesting and that you now have an explanation for Mannie's numbers. My civie Theo got a crystals diagnosis (struvite, aka triple phosphate) one week after Neko got her FD diagnosis. :roll: Diet is the best way to eliminate the crystals, including lots of water. At first he was on the vet food, until I discovered how high in carbs it was, and then the vet recommended raw as something they both could eat. At the time, the vet also recommended a small pinch of cranberry powder in his meals. It works for cats too! I just get the cranberry capsules, break them open and give a pinch with each meal. Paws crossed this can be licked quickly.

Nice cycle today Mannie! Keep on keeping BLUE!

So sorry about the UTI. Poor guy. Those are so painful. I hope the Clavamox does the trick and he doesn't have any problems with it. T doesn't do we'll on Clavamox. Hope you have a great night!!

Hi Barb - yeah me too on the vet. I just had a feeling something was going on with him... guess in a way I'm glad I was right.... The last few times he has had one of these we used the Clav, which is what he has now. guess w shall see. And I so agree: kill them nasty bugs! The chef and kitteh barista has work to do! Yupp, I wonder too on the crystals - though he doesn't seem to be in a distress. With him though I wonder if I'd even know.... such a stoic! THIS IS WAY TOO FUNNY!!!! Hi Melissa - yeah me too, but really wasn't surprised to hear it. Just felt something was going on with him. Me too on the Clav, but he has had it many times before without a problem, So we really hope that is the case this time too. Paws crossed on that one.

Oh, poor Mannie...I can't believe he has a UTI again!! Do you think it's a stress reaction? I remember he had one after his dental, and now he has one shortly after his cardio and BP vetty visits. I hope he feels better soon!!!

Mannie has had a stressful week between the BP, starting meds, and now the UTI. At least now you know what you are dealing with. I hope the A/Bs kick in quickly and make him feel better. Nice that he came down to blue today in spite of everything else.

Hi Marje - Yes, it certainly has been a week. alot going on for him, he's dong well adjusting to all these new things. Been a decent day for him number wise, considering all that is going on. It was great to see blue for awhile too - what a nice pmps!

NI NI LL - I am done, after one more test for the Nanner King. THANKS YOU EVERYONE who visited Mannie today. :-D :-D :-D

I'm so very sorry for scaring you with that rainbow on Ollie's condo. I have NO IDEA how i got it up there. The last time i didn't check my post, i didn't link to the previous condo correctly. Then, i said i would never post again without checking it. This time, i have to mean it and really check my posts.
I don't even want to think how a stupid mistake could make people get a lump in their throat. I'm so sorry.

Morning Mary - no worries!! I think we have all done that at one time or another... I had gone to check on kitties and saw the saw the rainbow, thought ; oh no, what happened to Ollie? When I checked the condo I realized what had happened. No worries.
