I went to Wal-Mart this morning and got a Relion Prime meter. I made sure to get the blue one. I usually like red, but couldn't bring myself to get one for Furball. The meter doesn't seem to be made as well as the Relion Confirm. The carrying case also doesn't seem to be made as well as the case for the Confirm. The meter works fine, but I did get about a 50 point difference in meter readings between the Confirm and the Prime. I will continue to test with both for a little while and see if the readings are still that far apart. The Prime does not beep when it gets enough blood on the test strip like the Confirm does.

+5=367 Confirm
+5=316 Prime

Furball is going the wrong way. She hasn't had good numbers since the fur shot Wednesday evening.

The test strips look exactly like the Arkray Vital test strips I use. They look like they are one and the same.
I did find about a 30 or so point difference between the Arkray Vital and my beloved OneTouch, but eventually, just started testing with the Arkray only. The Arkray meter doesn't beep either.
I hear you on the color choice. I would tend to choose the blue one over the red one, too :smile:

I use the ReliOn Confirm but have about worn it out. It started doing wierd things with the date and time a few days ago so I called ArkRay this morning. When I explained the problem (and lady forgot which meter I said), she asked if I was using the Prime meter. She volunteered the information that they were having big time issues with the Prime meter having internal software issues.

Hi Carla, thanks your experience on the Prime meter. I was at Walmart the other day and they only one Relion Prime left, but the box looked liked it had been opened and stuffed back together, I think just by someone looking inside and not a return. Anyway, I didn't buy it for that reason. That's quite a variance and will be interesting with the continued testing.
 
Furball has been happy & purry all day despite the higher numbers. The Confirm gave me the 307 and the Prime the 287. Only a 20 point difference this time. I hope the Prime doesn't start having problems since they are having software issues. Thanks for the warning Lyresa. I may have to return it.
 
Hi Carla. Not much difference between 307 and 287, but yellow looks nicer than pink :-D

I almost bought a Prime recently, but it was $16, and I wanted to see if I could get one free online, with a strip purchase.
I keep forgetting to look. I think I'll hold off until I hear more opinions.

I wanted to throw in my 2cents worth... and that's EXACTLY what it's worth on the Relion Prime. We've only ever had one meter... just started this dance in sept. We use the prime..we've never had any software issues, but then we haven't been using it long. I'm interested in the number difference.. i'll keep an eye on it... maybe this should be a loose lips or something so we can all keep an eye???
