Morning guys! almost a blue this morning! What are the calipers? Didn't know anything about them. Hope you have a great day!

Re: 12/05 Furball, AMPS=210

Good morning Carla,
Looks like Furball is all poised to go do some blue or green surfing?! Put on that lovely swimsuit and off you go little one!

thanks for the heads up on the syringe markings. I guess we should look into calipers. DH has some pretty accurate ones for engine building. I wonder if i could snag some for dosing?

Just a note on meters. We use the Relion Prime. We've haven't tried any others yet. We used to get a fair number of errors. It seems to read better if we put the strip at the very edge of the bottom of the blood drop and let the strip suck up what it needs. More often than not, when we stick the strip into the drop, there seems to be some issue. Now that we've gotten the hang of it, we haven't had errors in quite awhile (anti-jinx!!!!!!!!!)

Hugs to you
xoxo

Morning Carla, nice AMPS for Furball. I know what you mean with the lines. I count drops, and sometimes I'm only a little over the half inch mark on the syringe, and it equals what I call a unit. I don't have the calipers yet either.

(I also posted this in Scrabble's condo). Calipers are a tool to measure different things. I had never heard of them before LL. Several people here use them. Most people get their's at Harbour Freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/4-inch-digital-caliper-47256.html. If you try them, make sure you get ones that have 2 digits after the decimal point. You can get a more precise reading on smaller doses that way.

They are great for making sure the dose is consistent and for measuring small doses. I never realized how off the zero line was on some syringes until I started using the calipers. Marje wrote a great condo on how to use calipers http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=79851. It was a little difficult at first to measure the dose with the calipers, but once I got the hang of it, I was so glad I tried it.

We use the calipers too. I think it makes the dose much more consistent and less dependent on the syringe markings. Less stress on the bean too. :-D Go Furball!

I wonder if Furball had a flat yellow day today? That could make tonight interesting.

Carla, great yellows! If you're up for it hope you see blue tonight!!!

+2.5=300 Unfortunately it appears I gave a fur shot this evening. Furball moved on me just as I was pushing the plunger. I wasn't sure if all the insulin went in. I guess not.

I hate it when they move just as you are giving the shot. I hope it wasn't a fur shot, but she will recover anyway. And you get to sleep early. :-D

Hi Carla - hooray for calipers!! I am sorry on the fur shot - maybe some got in. Could be a food spike too. Mannie is a master at them... I hope your day has been a good one.
