Hopefully this low blue will lead to something today. He has been on this new dose for 7 cycles now and while it looks like he has come down ever so slightly. Will let it ride for a few more and see what happens.

So far I am loving the Onedrop meter. I love that it connects to my phone and moves all the data in. I am considering not doing my pen and paper logs. Between keeping the spreadsheet and now the info on the app I don't see me needing the hand written log. Maybe, It has really become routine so Im not sure I can get rid of it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Buddy still poops outside the box, (not 100% of the time, maybe like 60%) I'm not really concerned about this because it has pretty much always been this way (Vet had no advice) But, his poop is somewhat hard and dark (nuggets?) also not really anything new. Is it maybe a bit of constipation? Could that be the reason why he poops just outside the box? Maybe he associates the box with uncomfortable poops? I am wonder if maybe a very small daily dose of miralax would be helpful. Any thoughts?

Yoyo sometimes makes outside the box when he is constipated. Sometimes I wonder if he does it so that I'll take notice and do something. What I found worked the best for Yo's constipation is Pure Pumpkin. I haven't given him any since being diagnosed with diabetes so I don't know how it can effect the BG levels. But if Yo was constipated again, I would sure use it. At first he didn't like the taste, but then he loved it and would eat his food with the pumpkin mixed in it.....go figure:confused:

Might be worth a try. Reading around just a bit It don't look like it "should" affect BG too much.

+4 buddy is 50 It is his mealtime but didn't want to give him a full meal. I gave him a tsp of LC and will test again in 30? or sooner? He is not below 50 and I am using a new meter. I guess I should have tested again to verify the number.

If he's carb sensitive you can try giving him some LC to encourage surfing. With Moey, when he would make that big of a move LC had no effect so, I had to steer with MC or HC. I'd use HC if he wasn't reacting to the MC. When trying to bump him up a little I'd only feed small amounts of MC (1 tsp MC + 1 Tsp LC) as not to completely mess up his cycle. And I was testing every 30 mins, unless he was in the DANGER zone.
Buddy's # doesn't look terrible but, you don't want him chasing sharks so, it might be appropriate to give him a small amount of MC.
I'm not an expert though. I hope someone else can chime in.

54 at +4.5 Should I steer a bit more with some LC?

I also tested with the old meter just to be sure and it was the same, ( I am happy there is no real difference between them) I may have to switch back to the old meter as I have a limited number of strips for the new one, waiting for them to get here.

;)A couple of things to consider.

Buddy is probably at nadir now, and 50 is still quite safe. Good job getting +4.5, he is staying flat. LC is a better choice at this point IMHO. MC may end up putting the breaks on the duration, and bring him up too quickly. These numbers are what you want ;). Ideally a nice good stretch of greens gives the kitty's pancreas more chance to rest. Keep track on your SS when you fed food and /or intervened with which % carb, so you can use for future reference.

He did come up a tiny bit but of course its really the same, may do a tsp of MC and check in another 30
Thank you for responding :)
Yeah you may want to try a small amount of MC, re-test 30 post feeding and go from there. If you don't notice an increase...numbers dropping or staying flat maybe a little more MC and re-test in 30min. JMO.
And your welcome for the reply. I hate seeing peeps panic even a little.:bighug:

K...you have expert advice helping you now.:)
Sorry I couldn't help you more or may have given you bad info.
Good luck with Buddy's cycle today!

I jumped the gun just a bit when he REALLY didn't come up, I did give a less than tsp of mc. I know I have been working hard to get to this point, just didn't really know what to do with them haha! I am sure I will get better at it. Thank you for your help!

@Briere Fur Mom Oh no, not at all! And technically no experts here :D, just laypeople. We all suggest based on our experiences, MC may be needed if under 50, but as you mentioned previously it also depends on how carb sensitive Buddy is. It is all a good learning opportunity, we each develop an understanding of how our kitties react to insulin and carbs as we go through this process.

@Sandra And Buddy please do keep testing as well until you really see numbers climbing.

Good +5, it looks like that 13% was just perfect. Keep on surfing Buddy, you are looking fabulous :D:D. +6 would be fine, if you want to give his ears a little break.

The first time Mav gave me a low number, I gave him a half a can of 21% carb....:woot:

You always want to find just enough carb to keep him steady, that's why keeping track is so important. Today is good info for you!

Yes! I did the same thing when he did this the one time before! but it was 1/2 can MC. This time I tried to keep more calm about it and only go overboard a little! :D I have learned much about him today, Ready to do it again!

I’ve given my other (non sugar) cat Batman a feline dose of Miralax (per vet) and it’s helped him (he poops in the box but scoots his bum after because it’s “still stuck to him” ) It’s never soft- his are small and hard. Anal glands and worms were ruled out from testing so I think it’s become a combination of behavioral and comfort

I kind of think he has been doing it (outside the box) for so long it is just normal to him, Possibly. But I am going to try to help him along just a bit and see if we cant bring his comfort level up. I have miralax on hand so I am going to start with the smallest of dose but I am going to pick up some pumpkin when I can.

I think the dose is 1/4 tsp- but check online
