Last Night:
287 PMPS
292 +3.75

I gave J.D. his ABs and tested, shot, and fed. I was going to go btb and sleep in today, but was awakened at +1, by the sound of a cat throwing up. I was not giving Pepcid  , waiting to see if J.D. would need it.
I then gave J.D. 1/4 tablet (that's the dose, right?) of Pepcid AC at +1.5. That was 30 minutes ago. I'm going to feed him again now, and hope to btb some more.

Re: 12/04 J.D. AMPS 358

I hope J.D. feels better. Yes, 1/4 tablet pepcid is correct. I still have three left where I did the dividing of the tablet. Hope you get your btb and have a nice day.

Re: 12/04 J.D. AMPS 358 - Advice Please

AMPS: 1 tablet of Amoxicillin and fed
+1 Threw up all food
+1.5 1/4 tablet of Pepcid AC
+2 Fed
+2.5 Threw up all food

I hate ABs!

He has to go to work with me in 2 hours. I'll take rug cleaner with me.
Should I stop the ABs? I'm sorry, I haven't had coffee yet, and this is so frustrating.

Dyana:

J.D. may need the Pepsid before you give the AB. Even though you gave the dose before J.D.'s second breakfast, the AB was already on board. I'd try giving Pepsid 30 min. before his dinner tonight. You may also want to think about some food that's easier on the tummy -- something like baby food.

If the pukus continues, call your vet and switch ABs.

Re: 12/04 J.D. AMPS 358 - Advice Please

Thanks Sienne. I know the order of giving the Pepcid first, 30 minutes before the ABs. I just wasn't giving it at all, yet, hoping he wouldn't get an upset tummy with this one. I don't think he's ever had Amoxicillin before.
I'll give him some baby food now. And start giving the Pepcid 30 minutes before ABs.

Re: 12/04 J.D. AMPS 358, +3 394

I see that number and I just want to give R, but I know with him throwing up it wouldn't be a good idea.

I gave J.D. some more Pepcid AC.
He ate a little baby food. He never has been crazy about the stuff. Ginger likes it of course.
I'm off to go buy some more. brb.

Re: 12/04 J.D. AMPS 358, +3 394

Do not overdo it on the Pepsid. The MAX dose is 5 mg. BID but I've only given that much with a vet's supervision. The usual dose is 2.5mg (1/4 of the 10 mg tablet) ID.

Re: 12/04 J.D. AMPS 358, +3 394

Thanks again, Sienne on the Pepcid advice.

He just ate a little FF with FortiFlora. Keep it down, J.D.

We're off to tbpland..

J.D., do NOT do a Tawny today!

You need to eat, buddy, and keep it down.

Sending healing vines and snowflakes.

Hope tbp goes by quick w/no carpet cleaning, Dyana.

Re: 12/04 J.D. AMPS 358, +3 394, +5.25 299 at tbp

I brought a little plastic cup with me to work, just in case I could get a pee test for ketones. If he peed in the carrier, on the way here, I would have taken it from that.
I got him all set up under my desk, and the split second my back was turned, he peed in his litter box. I put the wet litter into a paper cup and added some water and sloshed it around, and did the test with that. Ketones - Negative.

J.D. was pretty much turning up his nose to everything at home, after all the throwing up. When I went to the grocery store to buy more baby food, I even brought him home a small carton of whipping cream and he only took a couple of sips of that.
But, he did eat a spoonful of baby food about an hour ago. And he seems good. Was wandering around, meowing (which is normal for him) a bit ago, and I gave him a treat and he's back to resting under my desk.

I quartered a Pepcid AC in my pill splitter (which is very hard to do acurately, by the way) and took the broken pills to work with me sitting in the pill splitter. Somehow they all fell out, and the pill splitter was empty. And I forgot the ABs at home.

So, I just gave him some Pepcid, now that we have returned home, at +2. I have to wait until +2.5 now to give the ABs.
That means his morning dose of ABs will be 9.5 hours after tonight's dose of ABs. That's all I can do with my schedule.
I hope that is okay.

I'm sure that will be fine. In my experience, it's not ALL that important that the AB's are exactly 12 hrs apart...heck, in my house, they're lucky if they get 2 doses in a day   We do the best we can, right?

Thanks Anne.
Since I actually, this time, gave him the Pepcid 30 minutes ahead of time, I am hoping everything will stay down.
Right now, J.D. is hoping that some of my dinner will come to him..what a mooch.
