AMPS 398 what to shoot? She was 251 last night. Is this higher because she was low yesterday? She has also ben eating on and off for the laast hour.

For Squamee since she's eating I think I'd go .9u or 1 unit. She may have gone a little lower last night.

For Harley I think .25u was too much since he was 67 at +3 but I couldn't stay awake any longer and this morning he was 183 but was playing and very happy this morning.

Have a great day.

Aww thanks Judy,

Last night he was 71 +2 and 67 +3 so I knew he was going to be safe as that is his usual MO. He drops, then surfs those numbers until +8 and starts to rise again.

You have a great day too!

AMPS 398 1U

PMPS 384 So DO I stay with 1U? She has been eating and drinking a lot in the past few hours.

Does the show always have cats?!

That is a very funny show! And 22 cats? Did I just happen to pick the right night? Or rather, you told me about it at exactly the right time, Robin.

I would stay with 1 unit. Your PS's are very close and she had a perfect nadir. Hope she does it again.

No the show never has cats on it. I think this is the only episode with them, it's a rerun. Loved the FF comment.

I was just checking Tanya's feline renal failure site (I think squamee is losing weight while eating and drinking more---a sign of possible kidney problems) and one of the things mentioned is a new obsession with water, and the cat bats at the water a lot. I am going to talk to the vet and I guess go in for blood work.

Wow, I hope not, how old is Squamee? Let us know what the blood tests show.

I know that with my civie Chase who had the I131 for HyperT almost a year ago, he had elevated kidney values afterwards, although he has been batting at water all his life. Someone here suggested to give him purified water so his kidneys wouldn't have to work so hard, I ran out and bought a Zero Water purifer and love it. I now use it for everything, the petting zoo, cooking, ice cubes that are clear as a bell, drinking and have become somewhat of a water snob because of it.

Anyway, my mom died last October from kidney failure at the age of 86, she/we had managed her kidney desease for the last 15 years. It isn't necessarily a death sentence.

Funny, thinking about it now mom's kidney specialist never mentioned purified water but that was the first thing I heard about here and it makes alot of sense.

Squamee will be 17 in the Spring. I am not sure what filtered water is. I have a reverse osmosis water filtration system in my house. I imagine that qualifies? I think it takes everything out of the water.

Zero Water?? Most of those branded water things are pyramid scams [sorry]. LOL the latest scam is "alkaline water" lol - such a bunch of BS. There is also some Japanese thing that is a pyramid scheme that's a bunch of poop too. And many like Britta actually soften the water which adds stuff to the water. The amount of "stuff" in most city water is fairly minimal. One can call their local water utility to get the full report of their water quality [the one they don't like to share].

And the only way to get "pure" water is reverse osmosis or distillation.

As a home brewer I'm a bit of a water snob myself. I pass everything through carbon + sediment filter then though UVC. UVC not only kills the ickies but also help break down some of the offending chemicals into less offending crud. My UVC solution really zaps the living poop out of the ickies too :-D .

Gator, you're a hoot. Zero water isn't a pyramid scheme, it's a water filtration system I bought at Target.

Judy, yes a reverse osmosis system qualifies, I just can't afford it so zero water it is for us.

Gator, I never developed a taste for beer but if you ever decide to try your hand at wine making I'll be right there with you.

If you haven't guessed already, I'm a little detailed oriented. It's a little comical to me too. :-D

Making wine is pretty much the same process. You can take the easy bake method with wine making too by using grape "extract" which simplifies the process a bit. As I understand, basically heat and water and grapes [extract] + yeast into a fermenter at the right temp and voilà! That even easier than making beer which requires generally multiple hops addition during the boil.
