11/9 Mickey not much better

He is coughing up a lung. He seemed a bit better today. Then evening comes and he is not doing so well. The emergency vet is 1 hr away. Torn on waiting until am to see the vet.
It sounds like there is alot of fluid moving when he coughs. I cannot tell if its his nose or lungs.
amps 325. havent got pmps until 9:30pm...the vet also informed me that the eye drops could be put in his nostrils as well..go figure. Omg I am very worried here.

If you're worried, then you should take him to the emergency vet. It will at least put your mind at ease.

awww peggy i am so sorry. can you call the er and ask to speak to a vet and see if there is anything you can do at home until tomorow. i know it's so hard to take that 1 hour night time ride to the er. i would suggest a vaporizer but don't know if that is a good idea.

I have tried a steamy hot bathroom years ago and it helped Cody, so a vaporizer sounds like a good thought.

Cody has a runny nose most mornings which I think is part of the acro/respiratory tract overgrowth thing, so I have learned to help him clear his nose by rubbing along the nostril, from about the corner of the eye down to the nostril, to squeeze the goop out, and then have a tissue ready to soak it up. If you gently feel along their nose, you can feel the indentation of the nasal canal. Just try to milk it out, like you might do for a toddler.

I have also given benedryl when he had a terrible mouth breathing cold. Its dosed by weight, so you would need to check with your vet.

the coughing is a new one- I cant remember anybody having a cough...

and i have recently used sensitive eye saline in his nose, similar to the eye drops you are talking about- hoping to knock down any virus lurking. (According to grandma- salt water gargle kills a cold...)

Other than that, know a lot of us are sending healing thoughts his way
