Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Back down to those nice blues today, Mr. T. I wonder if the cough is contributing to the pink numbers?

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

I think the pink numbers are from the cough. He gets a little panicky when he has breathing issues and it seems that his numbers go up from the stress.

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

hope that cough calms down and the numbers improve today. Let's see some greens Tarragon.

Have a lovely day

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Morning guys! I so concur - hope the cough subsides, bet the numbers will come down then. Go Mr T - looking for the blues today Maybe?

Have a great day guys!

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Poor Tarragon! I hope he's doing better today and he comes down a bit. Sometimes in Flagstaff we drive around with the windows open and the AC on.

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Hi Melissa, so sorry about Tarragon's asthma cough. That must be scary for Tarragon. Sending some vines and hope the Vet can help. Hope his numbers come down after his asthma cough is helped. Have a nice day.

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Hi Melissa,

Did you give him a puff of Albuterol after he coughed? That should relieve the tightness in his chest and make him more comfortable. You can also give him a little puff of Albuterol before his Flovent to open up his airways and let the Flovent get in there really good. I have had to do that with Zoe.....usually around this time of year....no AC, windows and doors open etc. Just a thought.....

C'mon down from the stinkus pinkus floor Sweet T....

Enjoy your day, Melissa!

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Sherry - I have been giving him the Albuterol before the Flovent and after he coughed since he started coughing again. Paws crossed that that will take care of it. I have a call into the vet as well and will probably be taking him in this afternoon.

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Good luck at the vets with him....maybe he has the start of a little URI and some antibitoics will help? Have to be so careful with these little kitties with asthma! I will be watching for an update after the vets....

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Hi guys .. sorry to hear tarragon is having some breathing problems .. I hope the meds or the vet visit will take care of it so he can come down some .. have a great day guys!

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

poor little guy - i can imagine that would be scary for a kitter when they don't understand why they can't breathe as fully as they want to. hope you get some answers today!

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Poor Tarragon, i could imagine he must get scared when he has an asthma attack. I hope the vet has a quick fix for this and Tarragon is back to normal soon. Are asthma attacks due to changes in weather?

Get better soon buddy, want me to come down and visit you today?

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Tarragon,
I'm sorry you have that awful cough - Snowshoe sympathizes, he's been doing that too. This time of year always causes flareups. All he wants to do is lay on the desk and be a 'lumpkin'....hope you're not feeling that yucky.

Rock on Melissa.... :-D :-D These can quit huh....I wonder if it's some of the aquifers collapsing because of the lack of water going in but massive amounts still being pulled out this year?

Hope Mr. T gets better, Hugs,

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Lyresa - I have heard that theory as well. Then others are talking about the fracing for natural gas causing it. It can stop anytime soon and I will be aok with it as will Tarragon. I called insurance yesterday (along with all Oklahomans). Of course we do not have earthquake insurance and there is a block on any new policies for at least 60 days. Imagine.

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

OH Melissa we hope our dear friend Tarragon will be feeling better soon!!
It must be scary to hear him like that, as my DH is asthmatic, so I know the feeling-
I even had Albuterol for a time when I had a lung infection..
Prayers for clear Lungs for Tarragon!! and prayers of Safety from any natural occurring events in your state!
Hugs & we love you all!

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Hydrofracking is evil. We are very involved in trying to keep it out of New York State. It turns the ground into swiss cheese, ruins wildlife habitat, and uses up immense volumes of precious water and then leaves the municipalities to deal with the waste water, which has been laced with chemicals the gas companies won't even disclose. I can't understand why it is legal. Just another indication of the breakdown in government regulatory agencies (which are being starved of funds by "friends of industry").

Tarragon, feel better, buddy. Rusty will be over later with some chicken soup. He made some for me and it is delicious!

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322

Back from the vet. It was a great vet visit. He is so open in discussing FD and interested in what this board is doing. Right now Tarragon is getting Flovent inhaler two puffs twice a day and albuterol when needed. He is coughing a lot the last few days and the inhalers aren't touching it. His airways are obviously inflammed. We talked a lot about our options. In the past, we only did steroid shots, which is why at T is FD. The vet and I agreed to try predisone pills, which are less risky than the shot. Once you give the shot, there is no taking it back. With the pills, we can stop them if his numbers shoot up. I did pick up regular insulin just in case. It will take an extreme amount of diligence on my part but the poor guy has to breathe. Thank you all for your support. I really appreciate it.

Edit - I forgot to mention that they did do a chest dray and it just showed the asthma spirals. From the look of the X-ray, the vet said he is a hard core asthmatic.

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322 Back from the vet

You take such good care of Tarragon and it was great that you got him into the vet so quickly. I hope the prednisone pills work and that he won't have to have the shot. Breathe easy, little Tarragon!

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322 Back from the vet

Hi Melissa & T.
Good that you took Tarragon in right away and that the vet is open to options. Sounds like you have an excellent vet. I hope the pills will do the trick and that T. will be breathing easier very soon.

Rusty is coming with the KTSS, too.

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322 Back from the vet

Thanks guys. I'm feeling a little better and haven't coffed in awhile. My mom says that makes her happy. I can't wait fir the yummy soup and need this vetty smell off me. They didn't do all those weird things to me this time tho. Just put that cold thing and listened to me breathe and took some pictures of my lungz.

Hey Curry! I told my mom about the fishy oil and she put it on her shopping list. Thank you for telling me. You waz coffin too? Bummer. I hope the new inhaler helped. We just got some from Canada so mom switched mine too.

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322 Back from the vet

AW! I am so sorry Tarragon has asthma. Poor baby and I know he has a mama bean who will take excellent care of him.

I know kitties are different but when I have needed to take prednisone for RA, my insulin needs increased but not dramatically. Just FYI, I was taking about 10% more and was on a small dose of pred. I will be interested to know how this effects Tarragon.

Paws crossed that he will feel much better soon.

Re: 11/8 Tarragon AMPS 322 Back from the vet

We tried to give Zener fish oil (even bought the animal version from Thorne) and he thinks it is totally disgusting. Has Charlie helped with the vetty smell like he did last time? Glad to hear you are feeling better, T.
