WCR: Most Ps in place. Still waiting on the poo...made up for the pee by giving me 4 pee piles yesterday. Got snuggles last night and a slightly early wake up call this morning. She seems to be feeling good.

Last time she had blood work was in August. If she were a nicer kitty, I'd take her all the time to have things checked out and b/w, etc. Unfortunately, they have to sedate her in order to draw blood.

Libby - she did start taking Potassium supplements back in August and I noticed her water intake changed around Sept. I blamed the K for the water intake, but wasn't sure if it was really the underlying cause.

Sorry to chat and run, but I've got some work to get ready for at school. Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

Nice barely yellow this morning Shasta. Surf safe for your bean. Have a great day Deborah!

Nice sunny start for Shasta today. I hope she surfs blue for you the rest of the day. Maybe you could call the vet and ask if the potassium supplements can cause increased thirst.

Re: 11/7 Shasta AMPS=259 +1=223 +1.5=202

i saw your Q yesterday about water intake and output. my first thought was kidneys too. although 1 cup of water in several days doesn't seem like much to me. i have a kitten that drinks a cup every couple of days, i think. since Shasta isn't asking to go to the vet, maybe give a call and ask if there was anything in the august labs that might point to kidney issues?

Thank you Melissa, Carla & Julie for checking in on us today. She is having a nice night, though she is not happy with me. I've been doing work on the computer and not paying enough attention to her.

Carla & Julie - I will email my vet to see if there's anything from her bloodwork that would point to kidney problems and/or issues with the Potassium causing excessive thirst. I would say that I will call them, but my phone time is non-existent these days. Today, I finally remembered to call the vet to get Shasta's prescription refilled...I was supposed to do it last week. :YMSIGH: I need Deborah clones...at least 5 of them.

Hope you all have a wonderful night!

Oh how I need the clones too!!
Hope you get some answers to you questions from the vet.
Have a good night Deborah!

Just catching up on the water drinking. Can you check her gums and see if they are slick? If they are tacky, it means she is dehydrated. Also, pull up the skin on her scruff and let it go....it should pop right back into place. If it's slow going back down, she's dehydrated.

One thing that has concerned me about you giving potassium supplements is not monitoring it. You don't want her getting hyperkalemic. The info on Potassium Imbalances on Tanya's may give you some good info.
