I increased Pumbaa to 2.25U this morning because I wasn't happy with his high yellows and a pink most of the day Tuesday.

Pumbaa could have dropped below 100 Monday night causing those high numbers as a bounce, but I was dead on my feet (after the last five days of mom in the hospital, and her getting released on Monday, and all of my cooking for her restricted diet and cleaning her house because my sister and her DH were coming in Monday night) and didn't get any test in beyond the +5 that night, even though I thought he might go green. :(

In any case, the 2.0U dose bought me some time to not worry about Pumbaa and to get some sleep, both of which I needed. But I'm still not happy when he has days above 250, and would love, love, love to get him to that perfect dose where he stops bouncing, and cruises in the greens and low blues!

It's hard to believe that we're coming up on 7 months with Pumbaa on insulin. I know many people have been dealing with this much longer than I have, with one cat, and I know back in the recesses of my brain that Pumbaa might never go into remission. But I can still pray and hope and dream, right?

Trying to be an optimist! And now I am going to try and catch up on all of the kitties I haven't had time to check on lately.

So glad to hear you are catching up on sleep, but also that your mom is doing well. Still thinking of her and praying for a good report.

I hear you on claw trimming. So many cats hate the process that it is just easier to avoid it. Beau is starting to get stuck in things again though and Ariel is bullying Cami, so I think my original three need it done asap too.

For Pumbaa, you may find that 2.5u is going to work well for now. He has lost his optimal overlap with the three dose reduction you did over 5 days so I am not surprised that he isn't holding the better numbers. Actually, the 31st was a nearly perfect day for him, although the 50 might have been a tad low. He may do better with a low of about 75.

Also, never give up hope. Beau was on insulin 2-1/2 years before going OTJ. And I know if another kitty on lev that was on insulin for something like 6 or 7 years and has recently gone OTJ. Anything is possible!

Sheila, I'm surprised Pumbaa is doing as well as he is not just with those dose reductions, but with the messed up injection times as well.

His numbers yesterday were pretty dang good, considering the dose increase shouldn't have really affected those numbers yet. So I'm looking forward to seeing how he does on the 2.25U, and if I still have to raise him after that, so be it. :)

Thank you...I won't give up hope for Pumbaa. I forgot that Beau was on insulin so long before going OTJ after 3 months on Levemir!

And thank you for the continued prayers for my mom! (((HUGS)))
