Danette

Can't answer your question but I'll give you a bump. Looks like she is bouncing big time but one of the dose advisors should be along shortly to
let you know what to do and when and what to shoot. Did you get the Relions with the 1/2 unit markings?

Yes, way shorter needle than Im used to. Im actually suprised she isnt higher, its been over 24hrs since her last u. And I fed her carbs yesterday to raise her bg

Danette, if you shoot now, how will that work with your schedule? Remember that we turn the clocks back tomorrow morning. If you shoot now (2 PM your time, right?) then you will need to shoot again 12 hours from that time (2 AM your time, which will become 1 AM). Will you be able to shoot on that schedule? If that's way off your normal schedule, then it probably makes more sense to wait until your PM shot time.

I know Jill said to give her .25u, that was the agreed amount of insulin, but just not sure if I should just wait until (pacific time) 7ish, OR do it now, then start again in the AM tomorrow. I am very suprised she isnt higher

If you're not going to shoot again until morning, then I would wait until your normal PM shot time tonight. I agree with what Jill advised. Go with 0.25u, you can always go up from there...it's safer and easier on both of you!

I know it will seem like nothing, but Essi is getting great response, so she may only need that little smidgen! You should like the smaller capacity syringes better, the unit lines should be a little further apart, plus the half units are marked. Another idea to make measuring those doses easier....I use reading glasses plus a lighted magnifier....MUCH easier to see where the plunger is exactly!

I, personally, like the shorter needles. Some of the folks with long-haired cats or chubbier cats, like the longer needles. So it's just a personal preference altho
some do think that the longer needles increase absorption. I don't know and that may be an ECID...Gracie seems to be absorbing just fine with shorter needles...I'd
be afraid I'd poke through her with the longer ones.

Can't remember if you saw this so my apologies if it is redundant:

Yah, I have a pair of reading glasses close by and I go around the house to look at it in other natural lights besides the kitchen light. Hows Mr. Tinkles doing today?

I actually like the shorter needles better, I give less fur shots with them! It is a personal preference.

Tinkles is doing great, thanks for asking! I need to go start my condo. Saturdays are crazy for me!

Hi Danette - you got the right ones. Marjorie is showing what .25u looks like on the syringe you just bought. It's a challenge, SHadow has never had a dose that small. good luck tonight with your new dose.

Danette....oh don't we all wish we could get syringes with .25 markings!!!! Kim's right...just showing you where .25u is. I copy these (in color) and have them in my hypo cabinet with my syringes....you can take a syringe and practice with water...that helps. You may not be able to get it to look EXACTLY like the pic but do the best you can...the most important thing is to be consistent...so whatever it looks like the first time you give .25u, strive to make sure every shot at that dose looks the same. It's tough....but if you practice, it will help. Good luck!

Good luck with the new dose, Danette. I agree that you should wait until this evening to give the shot. Lantus really likes consistency, so if you wait until the evening, you can pick the time that will be best for you in the 12-12 shot schedule and then stick with that time. You're doing fine! Those small doses are very difficult to measure, so follow Margorie's advice and just try to be consistent. A trick that I have used is to take a syringe, set the plunger where you think it is closest to the 0.25 mark, and then save it and use it as a guide when you eyeball the syringe you are filling.

Good Morning Ann,
