Active cycle today. Had a watery vomit sometime between PM+5 and +9; was hungry @ +9 so fed 1 oz. LC Luvsome [Kroger] chicken pate. Eating well at AMPS meal, another 1 oz. LC + pumpkin w/psyllium husk powder and few kibble. Plan to get a +1 reading and may test my resolve to let him dip below 90 without reducing. Do plan to feed as necessary early in the cycle. Glad he is eating. I am concerned about the vomits. I left kibble out @ PM+2 that he had not touched by +5 but when I showed it to him, he started eating it. He did not eat as well last night at PMPS. My guess is he is awake more during the late night hours, gets acidy stomach and needs to eat more at night. During those same hours in the daytime 10 to 1, he mainly sleeps.

He's holding steady @ +1 [124] so I did not feed. Will test again @ +2. I must say, if he's going to go low I much prefer he does it at AMPS rather than PMPS although I did have plans for the day. At home plans, no errands.

What does the vomit look like? Is he vomiting after long gaps without food? That could be acid build-up.
Watery, some foam, had some undigested dry food from his PM+5 feeding. I'm trying to feed so that he does not go long without food. I had left out dry food @ PM+2 that he did not eat until I offered it again at +5 so he went 5 hours from PMPS meal to +5. Maybe that was too long and his tummy was already upset when he ate the kibble. I didn't find the vomit until PM+9 and it was already cold by then so it wasn't fresh. He was hungry and ready to eat @ PM+9 so I opened a can of LC and he ate about 1 oz. He ate another 1oz. at AMPS plus his pumpkin and some kibble then a spoonful LC @ +2 & +3. I was going to feed the rest @ either +4 or +5 with a small amount of kibble and open a fresh can for a little snack @ +9. He won't eat a lot of wet food at one time and sometimes he wants a little kibble to go with it. Maybe I should only feed the kibble along with the wet and not by itself anymore.

He's still drifting downward @ +4 [105] so I fed more LC plus some kibble. He ate all but about a half teaspoon of wet and 1 kibble. Have made the mistake of letting him stay in his bed for some of his hourly feedings in the overnight hours. Now he expects to be able to stay there and he complained when I made him get up. I've had to change out his towels and bed liners because he is so messy when he eats. Well, it was wash day for his towels and t-shirts anyway.

Bandit wants to eat on our bed at nights!

How often does he puke? Have you spoken to your vet about it? (Sorry! Feeling too lazy to go to previous condos!)

Happens about once every week to 10 days. I have talked to the vet about it. I have Ondansetron in both pill version and transdermal cream. I have also used 1/4 tablet of Famotidine occasionally when it happens within a couple hours of preshot. Usually there is just one episode and he has a normal appetite--or maybe a little more hungry than usual afterward. He has an appointment with blood work scheduled in the next few weeks--right at year end. Unless he stops eating or it starts happening more frequently, I'll just try to feed more frequently.

He is continuing to come down slowly, now at 98 at +5. Fed about 1/2 t LC [all that was left of the can] plus some kibble covered in Squeeze-Up. Feels better to not be up against a reduction point for another 20+ points. He'll probably stop dropping soon.

Bandit was puking every 2-3 days a couple of months ago. It was clear yellowish vomit - sometimes undigested food - but usually just bile. The vet took a look at the photo and said it was stomach acid build up. Her CKD had worsened and this was one of the symptoms. 2.5mg of Famotidine every other day for a couple of weeks took care of it.

Lovely cycle today. :-)

At what time during the day did you give the Famotidine? I was thinking of maybe giving some around AM+8 since he is most likely done with his AM eating. I like to feed at +9 to help cushion any fast drops from +9 preshot. Didn't appear to help much today given he was down 100 points from PM+9 to AMPS. Then again, maybe it would have been worse if I hadn't fed.

+9, 129; Gave 2.5 Famotidine @ 8.75, tested then fed 0.75 oz. FF3% + few kibble; Bama has slept most of the day, seemed to perk up after the Famotidine and food.

Another active cycle tonight, it looks like. Much like the AMPS although he's not coming off a bounce like he was in the AM so maybe he'll surf in the low 100s. I'll get a +1 and feed as necessary. Could be a long night ahead. Judging by recent blue streaks, he tends to go through a couple blue cycles before deciding to bounce. Don't know how the brief time in the greens will affect him. We shall see. He ate well at his PMPS meal. Hope he'll eat as well during the early hours of tonight's cycle.

Are you using Pepcid AC for acid tummy? It really can help.

1/4 of an original Pepcid AC (10 mg tablet - cut into quarters). Not max strength or with any other additives - just original 10 mg Pepcid AC.

Yes, I gave him 2.5 mg prior to his AM+9 test and feed and it has seemed to help. He slept all day but was up just now for PM+3, he ate a little but really wanted to drink. Catching up on fluids. Looks like bounce has begun.
