Good morning, ~O) ~O) ~O)

I sure did hate to see that number this morning, what an ugly red... I think it is the highest red that I've ever caught Zeus at. Zeus was doing everything he could to get me up early, meowing, licking things, poking my arm, laps around me on the bed, and sniffing my face. Other than the licking things, it's kinda cute.

Haven't seen all the P's yet... Hopefully later. He and Miss Smokey have gone BTB.

Have a great day! Hugs and healing vines to all,
Kathie

Re: 11/29 Zeus AMPS 483

Hi Kathie,

Looks like Zeus is showing the effects of last night's fur shot. Not to worry. He'll get back to better numbers soon.

I just got caught up on your condo for yesterday. Sorry to hear about Smokey's hyper-T diagnosis. Your definitely ought to join the Yahoo hyper-T group. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/feline-hyperT/?yguid=354124632. There is a ton of good info. there. Roni's Moonie was recently diagnosed with hyper-T. She is getting the transdermal form of Methimozole (in the ear) and it seems to be working.

Stu (GA) had hyper-T (among other things in addition to diabetes). Everything in the body "speeds up" with hyper-T: the heart rate, the kidney function, etc. etc. Once it gets under control, these symptoms should ease. (by the way: the tearing-out of fur is one of the "symptoms" of hyper-T). Stu was going to have the I-131 radio-iodine treatment for hyper-T. This is a cure. We had high hopes for him, but he had so many other health issues that he was not a candidate. You can read about the I-131 on the Hypurrcat website. Dr. Mark E. Peterson has done the pioneering work in feline hyper-T research. http://www.animalendocrine.com/hypurrcat/hypurrcat/

Best of luck. Read everything you can, and do join the Yahoo group,

Ella & Rusty

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by. Look at this huge drop... I am so impressed. He was really hungry, ate almost a whole can of FF.

Thanks so much for the info Ella. The vet did talk to me about the radio-active iodine treatment, but we would have to go to another state and leave her for a period of time. I don't think that Smokey would survive it. She is a good old girl, but she is not happy when taken out of her own environment.

I did not know that pulling the fur out was a sign of hyper-T. She only does it in the winter time, when everyone gets dry skin... That is what I thought it was. That and possibly a nervous habit... My house was under construction last year when she started pulling fur.

Anyway, thanks again for all of the info and the links. I will def. read up on it

Hugs,
Kathie
