We'll see what this cycle brings. I feel like the pigeon in the high school psych class video, pecking away at that button to get a few random grains of corn.   Zener had a good appetite this morning, ate quite a bit and even in the CPC! Oops, time to get a +1. Zener and Tillie are on Versailles, their special cat furniture in the window in front of a bird feeder and directly under the heating vent.

Thinking of Jill and DH and sending them healing energy. Also thinking of MJ and the loss of her handsome Donovan. Have a nice Tuesday, LL.
Liz

ETA: +1 376, not bad, better than yesterday!

Re: 11/29 Zener AMPS 372;+1 376 A Trak

Better start for Zener! I know what you mean about the pigeon.   Hope you have a great day and Zener comes down slowly for you into the yellows.

Re: 11/29 Zener AMPS 372;+1 376 A Trak

OH WOWOWOW!!!! And you KNEW you stinkers! Saturday I got TWO huge boxes of food from you and was just floored - SO much food! SUCH an amazing gift. THEN comes Monday....and the postman....with THREE MORE BOXES! Yep, the happy tears started again - I just left them all over the kitchen floor for a while and sat in the middle of them grinning like an idiot. And I thought THANK YOU for the first two boxes wasn't adequate - it doesn't even BEGIN to convey our appreciation!!!!

Zener - u iz wearin' those ugly pink pj's again...try that GREEN again sweet baby!!

HUGS AND MORE HUGS AND EVEN MORE HUGS AND A SILLY HAPPY DANCE TOO!!!!

Re: 11/29 Zener AMPS 372;+1 376 A Trak

Well, flat is certainly better than up! I hope you all have a great day. What lucky kitters- bird watching and a heating vent and heating pads to boot!

Re: 11/29 Zener AMPS 372;+1 376 A Trak

You sure know how to keep your kitties warm! Now Zener, we need to chill those numbers a bit.

Is this all one big psychology experiment? OK, that's what the pigeons, oops, beans do about that, now let's see what they do about this!

Re: 11/29 Zener AMPS 372;+1 376;+2 315;+3 293 A Trak

Nice to see Zener coming down from this morning. Versailles cat furniture? That sounds very chic! I hope Simon doesn't read your condo or he will be expecting the same.

Anne, taking over for Liz now. And Zener is listening to his LL aunties again, sliding down into yellow! :-D

The big guy had a 50 point drop @+2 so we used a little 11% to slow things down, and we have a much more reasonable drop at +3 so back to 8% for his mini meals.

Guest departed this morning, so all quiet in the house and kitties can go in all rooms now, no closed door to keep Mr Z from peeing in suitcases!

@Melissa - Zener is following your instructions perfectly, will you also ask him to flatten out and get to blue?

@Lyresa- the laugh is on us, we thought all the boxes arrived at once. This is even better - spreads out the surprise! There were 2 large boxes and 3 medium to small boxes so if you have 5 total that should be it. Dance away, that is as good of medicine as laughing, so better yet, dance and laugh at the same time!

@Jaq - we agree completely about the flat! We'd been trying to flatten Zener's cycles out, using HC early, and then increase his insulin. But, we suspect having a guest here stressed him and may have had an effect on his numbers. All is returned to kitty "normal" today, so we shall see what his numbers do.

@Linda - you are so perceptive! Perhaps it is the kitties running this "bean" experiment. I wonder how we are doing? ;-)

@Georgia - Versailles is a kitty condo with ramps suited for Zener's balance issues. When he developed weakness due to FD, he wasn't able to get on it at all. That wasn't too much of an issue until the weather got cold and the heat came on. The top floor is VERY popular when the heat is blowing on it from the ceiling vent. Only recently has he gotten strong enough to get back on it safely. And Liz has done adaptations to help him balance and make it even safer for him on the narrow ramps, Zener graciously posed on Versailles as soon as he read his condo, and Liz will post pictures later.

Lookin' good today Zener! Relaxing on the cat furniture, watching the birds and staying nice and warm? Those kitties sure know how to live!

You left the door open for this one...
In one of our behavior classes at OSU...we regularly had students train rats to push the button for a sugar pellet.
one day one of the students knocked a book off his lab table, which scared their rat,
and she jumped up and hit the button with her butt.
And you can guess...that rat would never, ever push the button again with anything but her derriere
We opted to use that as an example of how outside factors can influence a behavioral experiment.
(although, to me...it proved the rigidity of rat psyches)

Moonie also had problems walking & jumping due to neuropathy..She has been able to get herself mostly anywhere, but no jumping on the table, etc--She more or less pulls herself up, but has re developed her neuropathy leg muscle so she does have some strength in it again--
Aint These Kitties Geniuses!!!   Hugs & Lub from us!

@Celi - is this what is meant by not giving a fat rat's ass about the findings of a research experiment?

@Roni - you are so right, these kitties are very smart! Zener had weakness in his back legs pre-FD from his cerebellar hypoplasia, and could never jump. He uses his front legs to pull himself up on everything and used to launch himself up with reckless abandon. We noticed him walking on his wrists several months ago and started the Zobaline, which we think has helped with the front legs. When his numbers are high - above 300, he gets weak all over, and we see his back legs give out more. Once his numbers get back into healing ranges, he walks better.

We are entering month 3 on this vial of Lantus, so are planning to start a new one later this week, once we are sure the latest bounce has cleared. This will be the longest time we have used a vial so far.

Guest has departed, so the kitties' universe is back to "normal", with the exception of the roofers working next door. Far too much racket for the kitties!

Re: 11/29 Zener PMPS 329+1 384 A Trak

Glad to hear most of Zener's world has returned to normal. No bouncing OK buddy?

I'm surprised to read you're about to replace your vial. We're 3 1/2 months in to ours and I had just planned to keep with it until something wonky starts to happen. But then again, I'm sure every vial behaves differently. Have a great night Anne, Liz, Zener and Tillie!

Re: 11/29 Zener PMPS 329+1 384 A Trak

Hi guys - I see the kitties are exploring the stratosphere again - catronauts for sure.  Come on down Zener - let's clear that bounce!

We, of course, expected his numbers to level off as soon as our guest walked out the door. Poor silly beans.

Well, we're just trying to sort out Mr Bouncy, and wondering if it could be the insulin causing his streak of stinkus pinkus even after the last dosecrease. We had some greens on this vial Sunday, so maybe it is not the insulin. :?

Re: 11/29 Zener PMPS 329;+1 384;+2.5 342 A Trak

Slowly coming down from the stratosphere. :YMSIGH:

PMPS 329, 9th cycle @s1.25, 0.95oz 8%
+1 384, 0.5oz 8%
+2.5 342, 0.8oz 8%, negative ketones

@Michelle - Zener says he will stop bouncing if Mannie will. ;-)

@ Binks -   Is that a NASA cat or some kind of killer cat flatulence? ohmygod_smile

Re: 11/29 Zener PMPS 329;+1 384;+2.5 342 A Trak

Sheesh, I missed the ugly numbers yesterday....sorry about that, I'm glad to see he's at least back to pink today, hopefully on his way to yellow! If it's any consolation....take a look at Mr T's SS. Yes, I know, it's all green and blue now, but click on the tab for last year's numbers.....a very different story there! ;-) We spent quite a bit of time in the reds, blacks and even HI's...Mr T was a very bouncy kitty, and he didn't want to give it up easily either....so don't despair! I worked very hard to reduce the bouncing, and it paid off....eventually. Hang in there!

Re: 11/29 Zener PMPS 329;+1 384;+2.5 342 A Trak

Thanks for the support Laurie! We like to study other condos of bouncy kitties, it gives us hope! :-D Zener made it to yellow this am cycle and is there again now, so his bounce cycles are looking pretty consistent at the moment. Paws are crossed he tires of the trampoline action one of these days!

Re: 11/29 Zener PMPS 329;+1 384;~2 342;~3 314 A Trak

Slipping down into yellow again.
PMPS 329, 9th cycle @s1.25, 0.95oz 8%
+1 384, 0.5oz 8%
+2.5 342, 0.8oz 8%, negative ketones
+3.5 314, 0.7oz 8%

Despite the bounce, Zener is eating the 8% pretty well, so we may start trying to reduce the carbs a little more this week.
