Hi All!
Sorry I couldn't post till tonight but I'm here now. As you can see, Racci's numbers have been great! I don't know what changed but it seems she may be over the bad slump. I just hope her neuropathy gets better again with the better numbers. She's sliding all over the wood floor when walking again, poor baby.
I have however, noticed some improvements today and yesterday which I think are due to the Adequan and now that the numbers are low again she's finally able to see the improvements! Yesterday she got off the window seat onto the chair without waiting for my help, which was a big deal for her. I taught her how to do it and practice it with her but she's been afraid to trust herself to do it alone until yesterday. I could see she wanted down but had to go to the bathroom so said I'd be right back and when I came back she had gotten to the chair herself and was sitting there waiting! Naturally I told her how wonderful she was and made a fuss over her. :-D :-D

Then today she actually made a short jump! I was shocked! Racci hasn't jumped for so long I can't even remember when it last was!!! Granted it was a tiny jump but she remembered that she is supposed to be able to do it. Other than this her half jump half slide down the chair to the floor is the closest to a jump she's come. She was on the ottoman and the chair was just a little too far away to step to so instead of reaching really hard or crying for me to help her, she jumped! It was great! She was very proud of herself and started cleaning and primping. It really did my heart good.

Talk to you later.
Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Yay Racci! Wow - that is terrific! I have a big smile reading your description and seeing her do her little jump in my mind. It's so sweet that she sits and waits when you tell her to, and of course that she gets to be fussed over :-D

Hi Lisa!

I know it's such a tiny step but it's really such a big thing for Racci! To actually jump from the ottoman to the chair, about a foot gap at the time, would have been really scary for her normally. Today, she didn't seem to think twice about it. She was confident! I'm just so happy for her and hope she continues to build her confidence again as her legs get stronger.

About her waiting for me, she's a very good girl. Racci has a very large vocabulary that she understands and will follow a lot of commands most of the time. Occasionally she doesn't feel like listening to me but she does know what I'm saying and usually listens. She's very sweet natured and smart and the combination makes her easy to teach. Usually I only have to show her something 2 or 3 times and she has it. I praise lavishly when she's good and give lots of kisses and hugs.

I have to go give meds. brb!
