I would not have expected that after that +2. Does he get food between +2 and +4? Wondering if that might help flatten him out some?

I keep his food dish topped up all day (except 2hrs prior to his preshot), it is a question of whether or not he wants to eat. I will try to encourage him to eat around that time.

That's good. It's a bit of effort, but rather than free feeding, offering him food at PS, +2 and +4 might work better at getting him to eat.
