Nice to see everyone again and I hope the Americans here had a good Thanksgiving!
I've reduced Salem to .25u again and he seems to be doing well except for the occasional spike above 200. A month ago I was out of town and he missed two shots after I left and before Kim (his caregiver while I was gone) arrived, and again after she left and before I returned home. Both times he tolerated it extremely well, even having a bg of 81 when Kim got here and tested. I wonder how much that .25u is actually doing and how much he's bringing his own bg down in response to meals.
Since I know he has chronic pancreatitis and his numbers seem to improve with Pepsid, I'm trying a regular dose of 1/4 Pepsid AC Maximum Strength every other day, a little more often if his numbers go above 200. I think that's a safe dose - the vet has said she prescribes that dose for every day.
Salem has all P's in place - purring, preening, and - well, he's too lazy to play much beyond swatting a catnip mouse or chasing one of the other cats once in a while.
He's eating like a pig as usual. Drinks a lot of water but his latest blood panel shows kidney numbers at the high end of normal and normal thyroid. I'm giving a very small dose of phosphorus binder for the kidney impairment and I think it helps since his kidney values have improved slightly over the last couple of tests. The vet wants me to get him an ultrasound just in case so I guess I'll have to work that in.
