Hi guys, hope you are all well, I've been lurking when I can :-D A year ago tomorrow we went to the vet to see what all the water drinking and peeing was about...and on the 30th of Nov when the blood tests came back she was diagnosed with diabetes. And it's our 8 month OTJ around this time too! I hope we can stay that way but...

Chyna has been doing mostly well even though her BG has been more blue than green the past few months then yesterday it was higher than ever (135). I posted a condo in health last night, can be found here with a bit of an update: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=108937

I'll be making a vet appt for bloodwork (which is due in a few weeks anyways) and a checkup, after I do more BG tests tonight after work. I hope it was just her throwing me a number to freak me out yesterday and went down again...

I've been pretty stressed. Work has been busy and I've been training new people non stop it seems so no time to do anything it seems. Today my newbie is sick and work is slow so here I am! My dad was diagnosed a few months ago with Parkinson's and is having appetite and nausea problems from the pills and is barely able to eat anything and mom is beside herself. So any thoughts or prayers for him and Chyna would be much appreciated

Chyna is looking forward to getting her FDMB calendar ( http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=107139)to have pictures of all her friends and we are on pins and needles waiting for it to arrive ;-) Wishing my US neighbors a Happy Thanksgiving!!! :YMHUG:

Hey, Rachel! Sorry to hear that your plate is pretty full. I hope things even out for your dad and work slows down.

I think getting Chyna seen by your vet sounds like a good idea. Dental issues or an infection that's brewing have been known to throw a kitty out of remission. It's good you've been testing since the BG numbers can be a signal that there may be a health issue.

Hi Rachel! :-D I sure like seeing your name on a post. Wish you weren't going thru so much though!
It sounds like the sooner Chyna can see the doc, the better. Hopefully it's a minor infection causing problems. My fingers are tightly crossed for you! Probably a dumb question, but do allergies affect bg?

So sorry about your Dad's P'sons and that he's put off food. That's a toughy for sure. My Gram got it as well as Lou G's when she was only 60years. It affects everyone so differently and you so often feel like you are running around in circles trying to get a grip on it and trying to find the right info that fits your situation. My heart goes out to you. And of course to your mom who is guaranteed a wreck. I really hope he picks up his appetite. So hard to stay strong if you're not consuming energy.

I am hugging you a hundred times :YMHUG: My prayers to you and your family.

Hi Rachel, I'm sorry about all the work stress and family stress. Chyna, you stay at the falls where you belong! There is a physical therapy professor at my university (Northern Arizona University) named Valerie Carter that has developed a treatment for Parkinsons. Here is an article in the Arizona Daily Sun about her practice along with contact info.
Liz

Hi Rachel, sorry that the one year of dx is not a happier time for you. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: I hope the vetty appointment gets some answers for you. I'm also sending healing vines to your dad.

BTW: Chyna makes a very pretty addition to December.

Oh, we can't wait to see the calendar! I haven't gotten a paypal email notice for shipment yet but that may be cause I'm in Canada and that's for the USA shipments, not sure. Just impatient, it always takes so long for the mail to get here and we ordered on the first shipment ;-)

Tonights numbers...not great. Up higher, to 160 both before supper and two hours later  Found puke from the afternoon, sometime between 2pm and 6pm...looked like pretty solid food so maybe scarf and barf. Some little poos all over the litter box too, but some solid ones also...guess I'm calling the vet first thing to try get in asap. She was a little growly during the end of subqs, tried to walk off and meowwwwed at me. I noticed a not so nice smell around the top of her head but she won't sit still for me to check her ears at the moment. Maybe an ear infection, or she just stuck her head in something stinky  Either way, she's due for blood tests and I'd like to get her checked out. Hope I can get in. Of course, we have a freezing rain warning on for tonight, just what I need to try bring my cat out in and drive with.

I'm not sure about allergies and BG Kim...I'm sure it does something wonky but she was just starting remission when we discovered the food allergy and her numbers looked ok. Liz I'll be sure to check the article:) Thanks for the well wishes and thoughts for my dad and baby kitty.
