WCR: Finally seeing some blue. I got home tonight and found some more throw up. I'm still really struggling to get him to eat anything. Also can't get him to use the Breeze litter box so having no luck getting a ketone check. A friend of mine is in town today and she works as a vet tech, so I had her come give him fluids since usually when the techs or unfamiliar people get near him he plays "invisible" statue kitty and doesn't move for fear that they might see him or touch him. She was able to get about 150ml in him. If this keeps up, I'm going to have to get him into the vet.

((((jordan)))) i'm so sorry willow's not feeling too great. how is his behavior, does he act sick? or is he mostly acting normal just not eating?

what does he do when the food is set down? does he try to eat and stop?

Jordan, I'm so sorry about Willow not feeling well. Sending tons of healing energy to him.

Re: 11/26 Willow PMPS~287, +3~186, +5~108

Thanks everyone. Even turkey didn't convince him to do more than give a couple of tiny licks then he walked away. When I put him by the food bowl, he lays down and looks away. If I push it up right under his nose, he'll sniff briefly then turn his nose up. I'm about to break out the HC and see if that convinces him to eat some. He isn't acting normal. His urine output has also greatly decreased. When my friend was giving him fluids, she commented that he didn't look like he was feeling good. He's still purring though.

Just wanted to stop by with some feel-better vines and snowflakes for sweet Willow. I hope he feels better soon, or that you at least figure out what's going on.

Re: 11/26 Willow PMPS~287, +3~186, +5~108

Thanks Kathy!

I was able to get some pepcid in him and a couple tiny bites of food, so hopefully that helps.

Re: 11/26 Willow PMPS~287, +3~186, +5~108

Good luck with the pepcid! Glad that Willow has the fluids on board. Maybe that will help overnight.

i see in your signature line that he has a history of CP - is that chronic pancreatitis? is he acting like that again? do you have a syringe that you can use to get some food into him?

Re: 11/26 Willow PMPS~287, +3~186, +5~108

Yes... CP is chronic pancreatitis. He's been having what I thought were flare-ups quite often over the last few months. He's thrown up more in the last few months than he has in his 13 yrs of life. Just makes me wonder if there is something more going on. Also, usually shortly after fluids, I start seeing some improvements in eating if he's having a CP flare-up.

Re: 11/26 Willow PMPS~287, +3~186, +5~108

Maybe I'm overthinking this and it is just another flare-up. Maybe his flare-ups are just getting worse?

And yes, I do have a syringe for syringe feeding.

i don't have experience with pancreatitis, just what i've seen here with other cats. it sounded from your description like it might be that. i don't know how to treat it. if you want ideas (maybe you're already knowledgeable about it, though) you could ask for help in your subject line.

sending the little guy some feel better vibes!

Re: 11/26 Willow PMPS~287, +3~186, +5~108, +6~61

Pretty knowledgeable on it, although there's much I could learn, I'm sure. I think more than anything I'm just looking for support and good thoughts for Willow. He just jumped onto my plate turkey and mashed potatoes and had a lot of turkey and a tiny amount of mashed potatoes (at this point, I don't care what he eats, I just want him eating). I have a feeling he's dropped more from the 61, which is probably why he finally decided that eating is a good idea, but I don't want to interrupt his eating so I'll test when he stops.

Re: 11/26 Willow PMPS~287, +6~61, +7~45

Thanks Julie! He's down to 45, so tonight's one of those times that I'm thankful to the low numbers for making him eat, even though he's eating out of necessity as opposed to feeling good and wanting to. He just had some more turkey and 1/4 can of soupy FF. He's been having a late nadar so not sure how much longer we'll be in the low's.

:YMHUG: that sounds like a nice dinner snack!

good that you can read his behavior and now when he's headed lower.
