Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Yay! Finally Shooter got a blue yesterday! I think part of the problem is that in trying to constantly feed Koda during all of this, Shooter has put on a little more weight. It's so hard to keep them all away from each other's food. I'm sure he came down a little lower between +7 - +9 yesterday but I'm pretty sure not into the greens. @tiffmaxee do you think I should raise again or wait for him to stop bouncing this round? You also were concerned about Koda's subq's. I've always heard that 100ml per 10lbs of weight is normal. Sounds like you think that's too much for him? And you think not twice a week? I told the vet I hadn't been giving it because he didn't seem dehydrated. His skin doesn't tent or anything. He said it's not for hydration. It's to flush the pancreas of toxins... Koda's urinalysis came back pretty good although his spec gravity is 1.019. I'm working on charting all of his bloodwork right now.

I do not think that 100 mL of fluid is too much for a 10 lb cat daily. How long do you think you will be doing it? Has the vet checked to make sure his heart is sound? If his heart is good as far as you know, and you check to make sure that he absorbs all of the fluids and does not have a pouch of fluid remaining and doesn’t feel squishy, then I think it will be safe. You can also weigh him before and after the fluids and he should be about the same weight the next day before you give the fluids again (if you have a baby scale.)

The felinecrf.org site has an extensive section on sub-q fluids. But his 100 mL amount is within the range for a cat of 10 lbs.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your husband, Heather.
