Good afternoon LL!
After all of the excitement with Clyde over the last two week things appear to be calming down. Clyde's appointment last night with the cardiologist went well. He was diagnosed with concentric hypertrophy consistent with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He said that it was not very advanced. The recommendation if we can get him to take the medication is 1/2 a tablet of a 25mg tablet atenolol and 1/2 tablet of 5mg tablet of benazepril every 24 hours.
The cardiologist didn't think the heart issue was causing the BG issue. My regular vet, gave him a shot of convenia, because of the cardiologist's opinion and because she didn't see anything obvious from his blood work that would be causing it.
My regular vet also checked his BG while I was there since, when I checked it before leaving for the office it was at 280. Her AT posted almost 380. Three days short of a year, he is going back on the juice.
The good news is I found out the pharmacy that my vet uses to compound medication will sell me one Lantus pen at a much more reasonable cost then the cost of a vial. I just now need to find out which branch will do it.
