Hello Everyone,

So sorry that I have not posted this week. Our house is being renovated and between that and working along with other usual daily issues haven't had time to post. Nap's SS is up to date through yesterday, I will update tonight.

I have made the decision to switch Napoleon to Levemir. I have a call with the vet at 2:00 today so wish us luck that he will write the script. Our Lantus experience has been inconsistent and although he is better on Lantus than on PZI, I think he will have steadier results with the Lev. I have read excellent things about it and I am hoping it is less fragile and lasts a little longer than Lantus. We have received yet another pooped out vial of Lantus.

I have heard the starting dose of Lev is 70% of the Lantus dose. Since Nap is on 3u skinny now, should I start at 2 units of Lev?

Thanks Devon! We just need more of a stable curve, hoping that the Levemir does the trick ;-)

Just talked to the vet and he wants to discuss it with the 2 other vets there cause he has never heard of Levemir. He is supposed to get back to me next week when they are back in. I wish I didn't have to wait that long but I guess once more week on Lantus isn't going to hurt anything. Keeping my fingers crossed that he will write the script nailbite_smile

When I asked my vet for a prescription, he had never heard of Levemir either, and asked me how to spell it..as he was writing out the prescription for me. Good luck getting the Levemir and getting the better results you seek. I am liking the switch to Lev, with J.D.
We were on 2.5 units of Lantus and went to 2.0 units of Lev when we switched, but soon went down from there.
Be sure to be able to be home for a few days when you make the switch, though. And hope to see you posting more :-D

Thanks Dyana. I am going to push for the Levemir. If I don't hear from the vet next week I will call him again.
Once I get the script I will start him on a weekend when I can be here with him. Glad J.D. is doing so well on the Lev!
