Not a bad AMPS, if he drops significantly on your out the door test (you might want to test 15 minutes before you have to leave), post....you may want to leave some higher carb food out for him to keep him safe, depending on how much he drops.

That's a significant sized drop at +2. I would give him a snack before you leave...if you'll be back in a couple of hours, he should be ok, if you'll be gone longer, you could add a little medium carb or high carb in with the low carb and leave it out...for insurance.

if you can bear it, i'd get another test in tonight. usually we're looking at a +2 that is about the same as the preshot. if we see a significant drop then we think the cat may drop lower during this cycle.

and even though i'm suggesting another test in a couple of hours, i think you can sleep and get up and test. i also would doubt that mikey's going to go low enough to be hypoglycemic. he doesn't seem to be a big dropper, although you never know.

I agree with Julie.....I think you definitely need to test in two hours and then if he's still coming down, you may need to test 1-2 hours after that.

Thanks Julie but honestly, I didn't think I had the choice not to. When I contacted Jenn J about fostering an FD I knew it wasn't going to be easy. She said I would get the best help in LL so this is where I'll be until Mikey is OTJ and after (I'm hoping he is the first of many that I will be able to help)

me too - you don't need to worry unless mikey drops below 50 - and that's not a crisis it's just time to tend him. marjorie has the link on how to handle low numbers in her signature line if you need it. i doubt you will, especially if you're prepared!
the basic procedure is to give a teaspoon of gravy from a can of high carb cat food, wait 15 or so minutes and retest. keep doing that process to keep the cat above 50. you want to see a couple of tests staying above 50 in a row so you know they're really solidly above 50 and not going under again. it's not hard but it's nice to have someone walk you through it the first time. i know i've already told you all that (not totally senile, even if it seems like i am!) but with the holiday weekend and it being night, i just want to make sure you've got it right here.

I would shoot unless you see a BIG drop at AMPS...if he drops below 120, I would stall and post for help. Looking good! :thumbup
BTW, getting that test at +11 or +11.5 will often help you avoid stalling....that's the reason for it. It will tell you which way he's heading.
