Re: 11/23 TIdus AMPS 251 +4.5/229
Tidus saw the board certified (and respected in the area) cardiologist on 11/21/12. An ultrasound was done which revealed Tidus has mitral valve disease and aortic valve thickening. The Dr. stated these conditions are not commonly seen in cats. The physiologic changes is a volume overload to the left heart with a risk for the development of congestive heart failure and thromboembolic disease. Probability of disease progression is high. Changes would not be associated with the presence of acromegaly.
He was prescribed enalapril 2.5mg 1 tab SID and baby aspirin 81mg 1/2 tab every 72 hours. To be re-evaluated in 6 months.
Tomorrow we are going to discuss his condition further and see about other possible things that might help him. At this time we are just giving him the best life we can and watching for any signs of infection or distress or labored breathing.
It was recommended he eat a low sodium diet so if anyone can recommend any brands (that also are ok for FD) that would be appreciated.
