Happy Sunday!! Sending mega healing vines to Simon today as well as Harley, Minka, and Sasha, Trix, Webster, Clyde, Ava, Carla, and Amy's Dad. JuJu-----DAY TEN!!!!

LBG is a frisky little crazy girl this morning. She welcomed her daddy home last night by squeezing herself onto his pillow and exfoliating his forehead with her little tongue and then pushing against his head with all four feet to make more room. This morning, she has been relentlessly aggravating Tobey. He will lie on his back, all four paws in the air, and she circles him nipping his toes until he finally has enough and pops up. Then they do this thing where she weaves towards him and he flinches back    Her sweet little expression is made you flinch!!! After they did this a while, Tobes went on the offense and tackled her. Of course, all of a sudden converting from Sugar Ray Leonard to the Principessa, she began to hiss and Daddy pulled Tobes off her. What did she do? She went right after Tobey again    And then they chase each other all over the house having a great time. So funny, those two.

Well I took her dose up by 0.05u yesterday morning and she went to the 30s last night   So I took the dose back down to 0.4u this morning. Sometimes she just needs a kickstart. I hope this is it and she'll start to flatten out and quit all that crazy bouncing.

Mike is home today and we are setting up the outdoor TV and ordering pizza and watching football!! Then later, we are going to take advantage of our new remote control, heat up the spa, and enjoy the sunset. Have a great day.

I love your description of the play time between Tobes and Gracie
And I'm envious of you saying you're going to heat up the spa and enjoy the sunset ;-) Nice!

Good luck with the new dose. And enjoy your day and evening.

Sounds like a fun, fun day...kitty fun fights, outdoors tv-football watching, PIZZA (YUM!) and a heated spa!!!! Gracie is looking fabulous today. Hope you all have a wonderful evening, Marje!

I hope this is a good dose for Gracie. I love hearing about Gracie and Tobey's antics.

The most heartbreaking thing just happened. At 1, Mike and I were getting ready to get cleaned up and order the pizza and he suddenly saw a young bobcat laying down on the door mat right outside our bedroom door. He said she was panting but when I got a closer look at her, I could tell she was not able to close her mouth and her jaw was likely broken. I called the local wildlife rehab center and they said they would send someone out immediately.

We thought it was a young bobcat....younger than our Joey. But then she got up and hopped to the fountain and tried to drink and we realized her front right leg was also likely broken. She came back on the patio and laid back down but a fly was bothering so she hobbled out to the planter box where Joey likes to lay and hopped in it. The rehabbers came and, by that time, the bobcat had jumped out and was on the rocks where Joey likes to lay. Then she jumped up and kind of ran to a side of the yard we couldn't see.

We formulated a plan so the rehabber with the dart gun would have the best chance to dart her. Long story and it took a while, but when the rehabber walked out into the backyard, the cat made a beeline for the wall and the rehabber darted her perfectly. It takes two minutes for the sedative to take effect and I mean she travelled in that two minutes. Our back property outside the wall is heavily vegetated.....we got back into all that cactus and hackberry and were scouring it for her. Stoopid me, I walked by the hackberry where she finally stopped and laid down probably five times and didn't see her but one of the rehabbers saw her and she was out cold. She was very thin; leg broken in three places and heavily infected; jaw broken; teeth missing; one pupil looked like it was blown. I couldn't believe how alert she acted in our yard....she did not act in pain but then she is a wild animal. The rehabber said she's probably been like that a week. Joey was last here all day last Wed and ate about five doves. I don't know if it happened after that if she could become "skin and bones" in that short of a time but there is no way that bob kitty could eat. She looked smaller than Joey but she knew our yard well and Mike is wondering if the severity of the injury quickly diminished her. At least she seemed to be able to get water.

We have to call later to see if they could save her. They were not sure that they could. If they do save her, they aren't sure if she can be released if she doesn't have the teeth she needs to hunt. If they can, by the grace of God, rehab her and she can fend for herself at some point in the future, they will release here on our property.

Please say prayers for her whether she is our Joey or not. Mike and I are in anguish that she was suffering so but, even if she has to be euthanized, she won't die a slow, painful death alone.

Oh, I'm saying prayers for that bobcat. I hope she is not Joey, and she can be rehabilitated.

Such a heartbreaking story. I am praying that she can be saved. Thank goodness you were home at the right time and she is now at a place that will take care of her and at least relieve the pain. Please keep us updated.

Thanks for the prayers for Simon today.

Sending healing and good rehab vines for the bobcat. I hope it is not your Joey, but if it is she knew just where to come for help!

The rehabber called. The bobcat had been shot in numerous places. Mike and I cannot believe she was as alert as she was here and moving around but her injuries were extremely severe. The vet said she is pretty sure she had been injured 10-14 days and since we just saw Joey last Wed, it wasn't her. But still....it was a young, beautiful, free soul. The rehabber told me all the volunteers and staff came and said a prayer and they made a circle of love around her as they helped her cross.

We are thankful she is no longer suffering. I hope we never find out who did this to her.

I'm glad she got to cross being cared for....

just think of the coyotes taunting her as she had laid defenseless in the wild....
of course...
I know it's the circle of life....
but I prefer the Disney version.....
with euthanasia..... :?

Marje, I started reading this thread with joy at the antics of your two silly, silly cats. What a hoot. How much fun.

And then my heart broke a bit with the bobcat episode. Nature's harshness is one thing and often difficult to accept, but to have this sentient creature experience intentional evil by a human. So disheartening. Angering.

One salvation. She died surrounded by love and compassion. Not much consolation, though. Thank you for contacting the people who could help her.

Marje, what a sad story about the Bobcat....I glad he is not suffering any more. I just can not believe what some people do to animals. i am glad you and Mike were there for him and he did not have to endure any more pain. God bless his little Soul.

The escapades of Gracie and Tobey playing this morning was so cute... So much fun to watch Kitties playing around ;-)

Hope you guys can still enjoy the rest of your evening ....

Marje, I am thanking God that your bobcat had the intelligence to come to you and Mike for help! Thank you for doing all you could do to make her crossing a little easier and I am truly sorry you had to witness this. Growing up in Eastern Washington, I saw this a lot- some people are incredibly stupid and cruel.

Marje, we are so saddened to hear about a beautiful young bobcat's demise at the hands of uncaring people. She must have known that you would try to help her if she managed to get to your house. Fly free, bobcat!

Thank you and Mike for the loving care you
took with this beautiful wild creature.

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

I was so hoping to come back to better news about the bobcat....I have been thinking of her.

I am glad that she is no longer suffering and they were able to help her cross peacefully and it not being prolonged. I just don't understand why people do some of the things they do. They need to realize, WE are the ones invading THEIR home.

Poor baby, so glad to hear she is free of pain now.

Oh no, the poor bobcat, it breaks my heart humans can be so cruel. She was given a gift of compassion and love by you and Mike, and the wonderful prople who do wildlife rehab. She can cross the bridge and fly free, free of pain and fear.

Thank you all for posting. This has been a very hard day for us. The depth of the cruelty, the amount of suffering, and how brave and courageous she was....still trying to groom herself with those horrible injuries.

I out out an email to all members in our HOA and am going to call AZ Game and Fish tomorrow to my contacts there to see if any investigation can be done. If they can find who did this, I hope the person can be prosecuted.

Marje and Mike,
Bless you for doing what you could to help this beautiful creature. I have only seen bobcats in captivity, although I have seen tracks here on the island. If one were to appear in my backyard I would consider that a gift from God. Thank you for helping her to cross with dignity and peace.

If there is a hell, I pray that animals such as this bobcat are in charge, and that those who could shoot them are given their just rewards.

Hi Marje,

Your compassion for all living things comes through so strongly. I will keep the bobcats in my meditations. It's hunting season here in Wisconsin now; I never understood the sense of separation that allows people to harm animals deliberately for sport, or for whatever reason.

Thanks for bringing this message to the Board.

Carl: I told Mike if I ever found out who did this, I'd have a hard time not taking a contract out on having them tortured then taken out to the desert and left. We consider all the creatures that share our property....which was theirs or their ancestors to begin with....a blessing. We even check on our little spider, Elvira, every single day. She has built a small condominium from a salvia bush to one of the beams supporting the front patio. I don't know the life span of this beautiful little spider but the day we go out and she's not there, we will both be crushed.

Georgette: thank you for meditating on these wonderful creatures. I have never understood hunting...for any reason.

Just catching up...what a heartwrenching story. I'm glad she was surrounded by loving, caring people to help her cross. What a brave little soul. I hope they found the jerks that shot her
