I got a call from ICU this morning saying Doodle needed a blood transfusion. His PCV has dropped from 44 to 21.
They said he was very lethargic and almost unresponsive. I told them to do the transfusion.
We were able to see him just for a few minutes. He was so weak he couldn't get up... he looks awful...but he purred when he saw us.
I'm hanging onto that...

They don't know what caused this. They can't find any bleeding. We're just hoping the transfusion helps him.
I'm insanely worried.

i just came from FB and saw your update there.
you have the smart ones offering advice. all i can do is offer prayers and positive thoughts... and lots and lots of cyber hugs.
 
((((((Michelle)))))) you know how much we love Doodle and you. All the vines and snowflakes and good thoughts and positive energy I can muster are being flung toward Florida today.
 
I hope the transfusion is helping your Doodle Boy. ((( Michelle ))).
If it helps, Jason's Belle had several transfusions, I think (Jason & Belle).
 
did they say they might do another transfusion, if the first one brings up the PCV/HCT but not to normal range? (i've read about multiple transfusions for dogs but not specifically for cats.)

glad doodle was responding to you, and hope the transfusion gave him the needed push to better health. (((Hugs)))

I just saw Doodle again and he looks sooo much better!! He was up, walking around, heatbutting and purring!
I was so so relieved!! Now my boy just has to stay stable through the night...
They say they still don't really know why this happened but as long as it doesn't happen again he should be able to go home tomorrow.

I'm sending healing vines, snowflakes and energies and saying prayers for a full recovery for Doodle. I'm so glad he's feeling better and hope he improves through the night. You are very brave, Michelle, and my heart goes out to you. :YMHUG:

I am so happy to read that he is better this afternoon. I was so sad when I first started to read this condo. I hope he remains strong thru the night and is able to go home tomorrow. Mannie and I will keep you and Doodle in out thoughts and prayers. Healing vines and snowflakes headed your way.

So glad to hear that Doodle was up head butting and purring. I hope his improvements continue so you can take him home tomorrow. I'm sure that is where he wants to be... With his loving family in his own home. (((Michelle and family)))
 
Oh Michelle I am so glad that the blood transfusion has worked its magic and that Doodle is feeling so much better. He's quite the fighter that little boy of yours. I'll be saying many prayers that he continues to improve and is able to go home tomorrow where he belongs. Hang in there.

I'm so so Happy to hear this!!! Now we really have something to be Thankful for here--Our Doodle Bug will be coming Home!!!!
