Good day! Sending my best wishes to Jill and Mike for a complete and speedy recovery. Sending out healing vines to all in need.

Morgaine must be having a real bounce since she was 252 this AM and was coming up last night. At this point it is hard for me to underrstand what is going on. She was very green yesterday so I will assume a bounce which never showed up like this with the FS but it did register in lower numbers than this. It all makes sense in a weird way.

She continues to pee outside of her box with some of it inside but she is clearly letting go outside as she soaked the floor last night. I have some pee pads on the floor under the box and near it. I feel so sad that she is still unable to come into the bedroom with me at night. I hope this infection is truly clearing and that this gets resolved.

Otherwise she seems to be okay. Her appetite is excellent, as always. She actually jumped onto her condo last night and took a nap there. Her hind legs, though weakened seem to be holding steady if she can still jump like that. I hadn't seen her do that in a long time so maybe the Zobaline is helping.

I just got a call from Abbott. They are sending me 300 Precision strips to get me through until they can resolve the FS matter. I never asked for this so i think it is a gesture of sincerity. Though I can't use them on Morgaine since they require so much blood, I can use them for me.

Have a nice day/evening everyone.

I see the weird sense too. At the lower numbers the FSL was accurate, so you saw the bounce. I'm seeing a bit more curve to Weezer's numbers as recorded on the Relion Micro, not much, but more than the FSL showed. So let's hope Morgaine is just bouncing now.

I hope the infection clears quickly. I know it must feel awful to shut her out at night. It does sound like the Zobaline is working if she can jump like that again. That's a very good thing!

Re: 11/22 Morgaine AMPS 252

have you looked into what other causes there might be for her incontinence?

great news on her jumping! we love it when our kitties climb on all the things we didn't want them to climb on before!

Re: 11/22 Morgaine AMPS 252

I just called the vet about the incontinence. They will call me back.

I am pleased with today's numbers. She was 131 at +3 and 101 @+6 so even though we have had to regroup, we are on the right track. Now I know she really does have a bounce to contend with but it clears pretty quickly.

Vet called back and is not sure why Morgaine is not getting fully into her box. She is not technically incontinent since she is getting into her box but she hangs her butt out the box so some goes in and most hits the floor. She suggested I put another box out for her and see if she will use that. I will try that next. Pee pads are ordered and we are using the few I have left now.

The vet isn't sure she would use a covered box and is concerned that she may stop using her box completely if we change things dramatically. I would agree that this is not the time to do something really different from her norm.

So, I ordered a large quantity of pee pads on e-bay and got a great price on them. Hopefully we will not have to use them for long but if we do, I can deal with it.

When Maverick's arthritis got bad he wouldn't squat to pee. I had to get a higher litterbox, but one that allowed him to enter easily. And a big rug so he didn't slip on the hardwood. I'm sure the peeing will get better as her legs recover.

Thank you so much for this info. The vet mentioned arthritis and I forgot to mention neuropathy. I believe you may be right. I have slowly noticed her decline in this area. She never really just peed outright like she does sometimes and i just saw her do it,not even bothering to get in the box. I may have to make a box just for this purpose, cutting a door into it so she doesn't have to struggle. But, i will give this some time and see how her legs do. She is also getting Cosequin as i thought it might help the bladder issues. She has only been on that for about 3 weeks. In any event, if things do not improve by the time we return to recheck her urine and get it cultured, I will discuss all of this with her new vet.

I am loving the vets at Sunrise, where Marje took us. My vet was on vacation so another vet called me back and was just so kind and pleasant about it all. I ordered 300 pee pads so we can deal and no matter what is going on, we will just allow Morgaine to find her comfort zone with this.

After she has a good pee, I clean it up, wait for a while and then am taking her onto the bed for some cuddling. I also give her some treats while we cuddle so she can associate the bedroom with treats and love and maybe not pee on the bed anymore. I am also meditating and communicating to her with visualization. I have read some info about communicating with our cats in that way so it is worth a try.

You were thinking the same way I was - I would make her a litterbox. She would be in litterbox heaven LOL. Cats want to be clean and we know how much they love to pee and poop in a fresh litterbox.

Also think about adequan if you think its bladder/arthritis - I don't know the impact of this on a cat with neuropathy though. I would do a culture to rule out a UTI as diabetic cats are prone to these.

Hi Rosalie, I'm so glad to see Morgaine's numbers coming down. Hope she has a good evening too. We've always had litterboxes with high sides because Zener would stand up to pee. We would cut out an opening of a deep plastic storage container. That's kind of hard to do though. I've also lined the inside of a cardboard box with plastic sheeting. Now he's using piddle pads almost exclusively. At least it's not on the carpet. We started giving him Zobaline several months ago for the neuropathy and we think it helps.
Liz

Karrie, they did put Morgaine on an AB, Baytril and she does have a UTI. Discussed this with the vet. We are going to do a recheck culture after she has finished the Baytril. She said we will wait a week to 10 days after treatment and then i have to get her back there for a sterile sample.

Liz, Morgaine has only been on the Zobaline for 2 weeks, maybe less so I know we need to give her more time to heal. Also, because she had higher numbers than i realized, we can now make decisions based on having the more accurate numbers.

When go back to recheck her urine, I will discuss all of this with the vet. The Cosequin needs more time as well but maybe she needs the Adequan instead.
