Time to go up to 1.75

Have you read through the 2 different dosing methods with Lantus? Start Low, Go Slow and Tight Regulation? At some point you need to decide which one you want to use and put it into your Signature so we know because some of the advice we'd give depends on which dosing method you choose. You're not "locked in" to your choice....if you decide it's not for you, you can always change!

On TR you need to test at least 3-4 times a day (the 2 Pre-shots and preferably at least 1 mid-cycle on the AM cycle (+5 to +7) and at least a "before bed" test on the PM cycle. If you can't test mid-cycle on the AM cycle due to work, it's even more important to try to get a few tests on the PM cycle (as well as testing more often on day's off)
This would allow you to increase as often as every 3 days if the numbers aren't getting him where you want him. The one important thing about TR though is there can't be any kibble in the diet. If you're literally only giving 2-3 pieces as a testing treat, that's one thing but if you leave it down for him to graze on, that's another.

On SLGS, you hold the dose for at least 7 days and then do a curve. You should still try to get at least 3 tests in like on TR though (the PS's and at least the "before bed") On SLGS, he could have low carb dry down to graze on if that's what you decide you want for him.

You might want to start posting over in the Lantus Forum too. You'll get the most experienced people there since everybody uses a depot insulin. You don't have to...you can continue posting here if you want, just wanted to give you the option.
