Happy Fursday!!! Our deepest condolences and prayers still to Dyana and Melinda. Our hearts break for them and their sudden loss of their babies. Cheering JuJu on in his OTJ Trial!!! Sending healing vines to all in need inc Webster.

Sorry to miss everyone yesterday.....work day for me and Mike had a bunch of stuff to do while LBG let him out. She's doing fantastic....feeling awesome. We took her to the vet on Tuesday for a liver enzyme recheck. Great news!! Her ALT is just about normal and all her other liver values down (they were normal but they have decreased). Dr. B just came back from a conference and met with the head NRT vet and discussed Gracie. He said he actually wonders if Gracie does not have any liver issue, based on the u/s, etc, but instead perhaps has a small, congenital hiatal hernia which could be the source of the vomiting and which could also raise her liver values. He believes this is also supported by the fact that she has responded so well to the water soluble liquid Vit E but did not respond to the normal liver support supplements like denamarin. We've stopped most of her supplements including the ursodiol and are now just giving her a couple things to support her pancreas. Dr. B taught me a maneuver to do for Gracie (kind of like a reverse Heimlich) which will help her if there is a small hernia (which might have also been the cause of the scarf/barf). All of her organs tested at a 10 and Dr. B said she thinks she looks phenomenal (even more so than usual). Next recheck is 3 mos unless there is a reason to do sooner.

We've been looking for another HC food to help her drops because the Cowboy Cookout just wasn't working and we were having to resort to too much karo. When I was at Petco the other day, I got a pkg each of Good Karma (19%) and Autumn Bounty (23%). The only difference in the two is the pumpkin in the latter which probably is the source of the carbs. We used the Good Karma pkg so decided, Tuesday night, to try the Autumn Bounty. Well.....it was way too much for her and, admittedly, we probably gave too much, and I think it put the solid brakes on her insulin so her bounce was horrific yesterday. We haven't seen her do that in ages and I do think it was the BIPO (caused by us) plus the bounce. Thankfully, she came back down last night. The Autumn Bounty has been tossed and I grabbed some more Good Karma last night on the way home from work. And we will use it judiciously. I got her into a good surf last night by cutting back as soon as I got the drop minimized.

She was funny last night, though. She LOVES the Good Karma so when I went to less carbs with some WN Core, she looked at her plate and then me as if to say WHAT??? I'm not eating this sludge. Baby loves GOOD KARMA!!!   But she ate the Core ;-)

DM update: There was a mixup on the scheduling with the neck specialist and so she does not see him until Dec 1 for her fractured cervical vertebra. The hospital put her in a hard neck brace yesterday and released her home last night. The source of the high WBCs was MRSA; the vincamycin IV kickstarted the treatment but she has to continue a/bs at home. I spoke with her this morning and she was very glad to be home but felt weak. I really wish the specialist could see her before Dec 1; I told her I could call and see what I could do but she didn't want me to.

I'm working today (ick) but will be around tonight to catch up. Have a great day.

Hi Marje! That is a great report for sweet LBG and I was SO happy to read it:) I'm glad she is doing so well! Other than the bouncy bounce;) I can just imagine the look on her face when the fuds were the LC again! I hope your work day goes well. Good healing vines to your DM, and many hugs to you all!!!

Glad to hear they figured out what is going on with your DM. The holiday likely got in the way for an earlier appointment with the neck doc.

I hope the Soulistic continues to work well. With the higher carb one I mix it with regular lc or mc.

Oh Marje, I am so glad to read Gracie's condo today, I was worried I didn't see one yesterday- that is great news about her ALT and other BW values and so nice to stop some of those supplements! :YMHUG: I did not realize how much time it takes to give all those meds to an unwilling kitty and I so admire those of you that are successful at doing so! I hope the new maneuver will help stop the scarf and barfing. (I thought she was mostly vomiting clear foamy stuff though?)

I am glad to hear your DM was able to go home, but so so sorry to hear she has MRSA- that is a real worry and I am going to pray the AB's can knock it out of her system!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

She's doing fantastic....feeling awesome.

All right!!!!

Funny on the Karma foods. Yes, wee one, you can't always get what you want! And mamabean knows best. At least she didn't flash her tail in the air, pivot smoothly and walk away.

Have fun tomorrow LBG. You know what day it is!

Vines for your DM.

Marilyn and Polly

Hi Marje,
It all makes you yearn for the day when you fed the same food all the time and they were happy to have it! Good luck with the Karma!!! It's great that Gracie's blood values are good and in the normal range.

Sending more vines for your mother.

Have a good evening. Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Glad to hear LBG is feeling and looking great. Also glad that DM is home. We wish her a speedy recovery.

MRSA  glad they caught it and have her on the big gun ABs.

that's all really interesting about Gracie's liver/hiatal hernia. If you ever decide to video the maneuver, i'd watch it! Can't imagine what a reverse heimlich on a cat would look like! *pondering* :-D

Great news on Missy G and whoop whoop on the good karma - what a great name for fuds!

MRSA, good grief. The hospital or ER is a great place to get these sorts of bad bugs. As if a cervical vertebrae fracture isn't enough.

We were a little worried not seeing a Gracie condo yesterday, nailbite_smile must be our PTSD from Zener's crossing and that of so many others lately. Then we realized it was work day. Whew!

Thanks for visiting today Rachel, Carla, Elise, Ruth, Marilyn, Ella, Matt, Julie, and Anne.

Lots of flat yellow today which means sleep tonight so we'll see what tomorrow brings...perhaps a dose increase LBG!

Ruth: she was doing clear vomiting, sometimes with some foam but as her liver values have come down, she's been doing better in that regard and hasjust had a few scarf/barfs.

Yes...MRSA but it isn't the first time. I'm sure she carries it.

Time for beddie bye for me. Ni Ni!

Hi Marje:

I'm late to the party, as always.

I'm so glad to hear that Gracie's liver values are looking good and she got a good vetty report. Very interesting about the possible hernia. Who knew cats got hernias? I hope the maneuver he showed you helps.

Yay on your DM getting to go home. One always feels better when they can sleep in their own bed. Sending lots of healing vines for her and prayers, too.
