Just a quick update, as I have to go give J.D. his shot in a few minutes.

I have not yet updated my spreadsheet. This is the first I have had access to a computer.

From (my not so good) Memory:
J.D. was like 371 at AMBG (+12) yesterday, and I thought about giving him some insulin before our trip, but asked my gut, and did not.
At the Newark airport at around +13.5 he was 328.
At the San Francisco airport, at approximately +22 he was 421, and I sat on the ground in the airport parking lot (for some reason) and did my best to measure zero line of R. By the time we got home to my Dad's house it was about +24 (still 3 more hours until our new shot time) and he was something like 552. Finally, at our new shot time (at +27) he was HI, and I gave him a slightly fat dose of Levemir and another attempted zero line of R.

He ate a little crunchy here and there on the plane. I'll write more about that later, as I have to go shoot.

I'll try to log on later, when I can.

Thanks for all your Well Wishes and calming vines yesterday. They really helped :)

Re: 11/19 J.D. AMPS 238

(((Dyana + J.D.))) So glad you got there and that all is going well so far. He will bring himself down in a few cycles and will be none the worse for it. Better to have them higher than too low, in MHO.
Hope you have a great time out there....and that J.D. will relax and enjoy the change of scenery too.....
Thinking of you both....kudos to you two for making this trip!!!! It's a long haul for sure and you both desreve a LOT of credit!! Hugs from us!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I'm glad you made it safely. I hope you have a good visit. That's a nice AMPS after your travel day.

Re: 11/19 J.D. AMPS 238, +2 431, +3.75 374, +8.25 172, +9.75

I'm not totally sure about the + numbers I just posted, and I haven't yet updated my spreadsheet. My meter is still set to EST and we are shooting an hour later, so I'm subtracting 3 hours and then adding 1 or something like that, to what my meter says.

I don't know why J.D. shot up at +2, but I was a little concerned with his eating, and so gave him a little MC FF Medleys which he ate and he ate a few EVO dry kibbles, so I guess that was the reason, besides stress. I did give him some cypro this morning, and he ate pretty good through the day, mainly whenever I was in the room with him, and was there to offer him the food and watch over him, but he ate some on his own too.

On the airplane, before take off, I had J.D.'s carrier un zipped both on top and in front and he was happily stretched out.
There was an empty middle seat, so I put him under neath the middle seat, so I had leg room. At take off, I make him get all the way in the carrier and zip him up inside. After we were up in the air, a stewardess comes by and says something like "you have the cat" "can you keep him in the carrier at all times, as we have another passenger who is (allegedly) severly allergic to cats." Earlier J.D. had been lounging with most of his body except for the last half of his tail outside of the carrier. As we were flying along, everytime I tried to open the zippers too much, he would try to climb out of it, so I kept having to forcefully push him back inside, and locking him back up (I would keep the zippers about 3 inches open, but that's it). Well, I didn't know this until we landed (and I should know better with experience) but the reason he was trying so hard to get out of the carrier was because he had peed in there and didn't want to lay in it. It just makes me feel so bad, now.

We went for two walks in the morning darkness, and J.D. remembers my dad's house well. We went shopping today, and J.D. was left for awhile.

After shopping, I took him for another walk around my dad's house, and later I gave him a short bath to cleanse his pee soaked fur on his belly and paws, from the trip. He seemed to enjoy the drying off with the towel.

He has had two small hard poos, and so I went and bought some miralax but haven't used it yet. He normally doesn't like it in his food, but on Saturday I gave him some lactulose and he had runny diarrehea. I'll have to decide to give him one or the other.

Sorry, I haven't been on the board much. My sister just left, but will be back with her family on Friday, so that will be cool.
I still haven't even tried to use my Step Mom's lap top yet, but am using this old dial up computer out in the workshop in the garage.

It's almost shot time again, so I guess I'll see you all later.

Have a good evening.

Pardon, my learning to use a lap top computer. It sure would be nice to have one of there, though :)

J.D. is being fed 4 hours later than normal, so he's pretty hungry upon shot time. I did mix up some Miralax in his 1st Dinner, but I guess I didn't need to.
My dad provides a very small litter box for J.D. and he's a big cat. He has made it in the box most of the time, but I watched him entirely inside the box with all four feet and pee right over the edge onto the pee pad surrounding the litter box, and then later I saw him do the exact same thing pooing (a nice soft (a little bit extra soft) poo) right over the edge of the box, so I guess the Miralax wasn't necessary.

J.D. pretty much ate 2 Dinners at once at PMPS time, then we went for a short walk with Tramp (my Dad's dog), and then he ate a little more.

Boy, that was a lot of work to try to type all that.

Hi Dyana, it appears that J.D. made it through the ordeal of the flight fairly well. It's good he remembers your dads house. I'm sure that cuts down on his stress. Have a great evening and enjoy the time with your family.

I'm glad you all made it safely but I'm sorry about JD peeing in his carrier...poor baby. Glad his numbers are recovering :-D

Have fun!
