Yesterday

I woke up early this morning and caught a PMPS +9.5 because I wanted to see when her true nadir is with these weird cycles. If this morning was any indication, she is really nadiring around her shot time. This dose increase looks to have lessened her bounce this evening, so I'll watch where tonight takes us. Vet visit is on Tuesday morning, so I may ask tomorrow for some advice on if I should do a half dose just in the AM on Tuesday or the night before as well.

Thinking of Karen and Chispa :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Carrying on with my 70s nadir then music theme tonight … quoting Alicia Bridges lyrics “I want some action”.

Bell is getting some action this cycle. I’m going to get milk duds and popcorn.

:nailbiting: Still dropping fast… I haven’t had luck getting bell to eat higher carb food, but I bet I could mix in some higher carb gravy to her normal pates. I also have maple syrup or Karo on hand that I could put a few drops in.

I’ve never seen her drop so fast. She does like to drop quick and stick to low greens, but I haven’t seen a +2 (where theoretically the shot hasn’t kicked in yet) with such a drastic drop. But she has been recently dropping to blues really quickly in the wee hours of the morning.

Probably coming up on +4 by now, hopefully one of the more experienced folks will be by. You’re prepared to intervene tho if you have to

At 60, I would get a test in 30 minutes. With Kona, a drop from 285 to 60 at +4 would mean the action is strong and there’s no normal nadir, it’s dropping until you get aggressive with high carbs or a few drops of Karo. Some of her cycle action would go into the next.

Lantus onset is typically +2-+3. Lots of examples where she's seen action by +2 in 2024.

If you need to add karo/honey, start with one drop and see how that does. Unless she's going down really fast.

Time to surf Bell! :D

Thank you all! Got a +5 at 66 which is way more typical of Bell sticking to the low greens. I have seen her drop before but never to the extent of 285 to 125 in the couple hours after her shot.

Wendy, looks like that dose increase got rid of those offensive spikes. Bell is a pro at surfing these low numbers

Whew …. Seems like this got antibody override super fast and may be the tipping point. Let’s hang 10 now.

It sounds like our sisters have similar taste buds. Fancy Feast is the only wet food I can get Minner to eat and really only the pates. Food with larger pieces seem to bother her, like she doesnt do well w/ the texture and it freaks her out. BUT, there is a slightly higher carb CHUNKY fancy feast w/ turkey and chicken flavors that does have some pieces in it, but it is 80% pate and I use a spoon to break up and smash out the chunks. She goes for this and I have been using it more to manage her lower numbers now. Spoiled cat note: I keep cans for the day on a heating pad so the food is slightly warm. Sometimes when I need to feed her given an unexpected lower number and no warm food I grab a chunky, put in paper bowl, nuke for 10 seconds, then smash out chunks. The turkey flavor chunks seem a little softer and easier to break up than the chicken. These are 4 and 5% carbs while all the pate’s she eats are 1, 2 or 3%. (Based on Lisa table). The Life Essentials cat man doo freeze dried chicken, pulverized by me sprinkling some on the pate or chunky when I need her to eat and she’s not super hungry seems to work most of the time (knock on wood).

Good stuff, Laura! I will try some of your suggestions here. I’m guessing I could get some higher carbs in her when she is low (and super hungry). Whenever she is not at the super low numbers, I’ve not had any luck with other foods. It was a small miracle that she switched from dry to the fancy feast pates

Great job Seth! Looks like Bell had a nice stable surf. She really is a pro at surfing those greens when she sees them! :D:D

Hope she has a calm day today and lots of good luck tomorrow! We will be sending lots of good wishes to you both :bighug::bighug::bighug:
