Hi,
Does any one have information about using different test strips other than the Alphtatrak2 with the Alphatrak2 Veterianry Blood Glucose Meter?

Also, any information on a human blood glucose meter to use with cats that is reliable and with reliable ranges?

Hi Debra,
You can probably consult the manufacturer websites about which strips will work with which meters — but I think they are all calibrated to their specific models.

Here is a thread about blood glucose meters! http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...r-ratings-comparisons-recommendations.156388/

ReliOn seems popular with folx here, I have the OneTouch Verio IQ and a Nova Max (because it also tests for ketones with different strips).

Here is an eBay search with lots of results for less expensive Alpha Trak strips <3

The Freestyle InsulinX strips work great with the Alphatrak2 meter. In fact, they're identical, just much less expensive. Most of us keep the meter set to code 38 with the Insulinx strips.

The manufacturer will tell you to use the strips that corespond to the meter they’re made for. That’s what they have to say. However, from our experience, we found that Insulix strips work perfectly with alpha trak, like Beck said above, and are a fraction of the cost! @JanetNJ uses them also.
I spent a ton of alphatrak steips over the 9 months we used the meter and only found out about the Insulix strips at the end. Don’t be like me and waste your money. Hope this helps ❤️

Thank you for letting me know. I am going thru the strips so fast and they are soooo expensive. Can they be purchased in local stores or do I need to search on the internet? Again, thank you!
