Good morning and a beautiful day to everyone ~O) ~O) :thumbup

I'm putting some notes here. They're just odd and ends that i've notice over the past week or so. I didn't watch ollie closely enough to catch his diabetes. now i'm probably watching too close and not letting him just be a cat.
couple notes:
1)11/11&12 played a lot: seemed like his good ol self
2)11/13&14slept all day, usually he finds a toy, or wants me to dangle his mouse. today he didn't want to be touched, whined when I touched him at all. he usually comes to me for food, these two days he didn't even get up to ask for food. i brought his food to him, he would eat, but from the prone position. that's really not like him. breathing up to 60/min. Temp almost 80 with humidity. Since he has asthma, i probably should have closed the house and turned on the a/c;
3) 11/15,16&17 ear doesn't bleed very well anymore, several times had to poke more than once, always have to wait while a tiny drop gets big enough to run up the test strip :4)for the last week his blood seemed very thick. doesn't always run up the strip like it used to, several times get error even tho blood is on strip, sometimes it looks like a glob of blood instead of a drop: had to go back to heating up his ear to get blood for test. His ear had been bleeding very well. Breathing down to 40/min. Vet found clear lungs.
4)11/17 Very sweet and likes us today, cuddles and wants to be where we are. breathing back to 30-35/min
5) starting to leave some of his 9-lives, he's been gobbling it . I thought that was odd because he's eaten fancy feast since he was a baby and he would never eat anything other than FF except occasionally Friskies tuna and egg flaked; (and of course the deadly stupid dry food we gave him)
6)11/17 after his night shot, big pupils and seemed desperate to eat.
7) 11/18 at PMPS +1 159 - sleeping.

Prayers for us all. may we all have beautiful blue skies and good friends close by
xoxo

Morning Mary ~O) ~O) ~O)

Sunny yellow for Olive today. Oliver - better start than Mannie - he's pink this morning. Maybe you two guys can find the blue floor today. Go for it!

I don't think any of us are too savvy on knowing that our kitties have crossed that line and are FD kitties. it was 4 months oft me before I knew that was what ailed Mannie. I knew something was off, but they just couldn't pin point it, mainly becasue his BG was in what they, the vet, viewed as acceptable range. I now know better, but back then? no.... well we do the best we can. Interesting observations. Good to do I think. I find I do the same with Mannie, one new quirk and I'm on alert. Our latest is the fuds thing too - he used to eat anything anytime anywhere. Not anymore. Guess that is him just being a cat.

Enjoy your day today. I hope it is a good one.

Re: 11/18 OliverTwist AMPS 272 and notes

Good morning Mary. Great idea keeping notes on Oliver. I think we all sort of lived with our cats not really thinking about what was going on inside of them. It wasn't until they started really acting unusual and losing weight that we got concerned and made that vet trip that changed all of our lives. We also notice every little change in PurrFace and our 2 civvies, but have not been writing them down. I think we should begin. It's a good thing and our cats and us will be better off for it. Hope Oliver comes down into the blue and maybe even the green zone today. Have a great day.

HI John,
Thanks for the visit. You are right, i took for granted that ollie was perfect and assumed he always would be. Now, i'm starting my little Ollie Journal.
I'm soooo glad to see how well you, Donna and PurrFace are doing. Anxious for your.... don't jinx it

Re: 11/18 OliverTwist AMPS 272 and notes

Hi Mary, interesting notes with Oliver, and I think it's a good idea, too. I was having the hardest time gtting a right size blood to get enough on the strip. I wasted three strips trying, even though I was warming up! So nice to see I'm not the only one. I think we all get closer than we could imagine with our kitties with managing their diabetes. Have a great day.

Re: 11/18 OliverTwist AMPS 272/6-147/PMPS 175/1-159/2.5-123

OK. A little low, but not too low. gave ollie 2.5 units and hauled out the low number instructions.
I'm pretty sure i know what to do, but if someone is around it'd be great.

Here's the plan??
test at 1, feed a little of his regular 4%
test at 2, feed a little of his regular 4%
test at 3, feed a little of his regular 4%
continue testing and feeding (probably 1/2 ) feed mc (about 8or9% like last time) if he gets into the 50s.
only feed high carb if he gets into the 40's.
watch him get into the greens and surf
?????????

not so low, right? it'll be just fine.
thanks very much and cross your fingers.
xoxo

Well, that was a lot of worry for nada. We'll probably get to green, but i think it's probably safe to put away the HC.

Hi guys just wanted to stop by and say hi! Your Ollie journal is interesting, I am always analyzing Scrabble wondering why is he wandering around, why is he sleepy lol. Ever since he was diagnosed I have been more keen to the goings on with him. So I feel ya! Pretty cool that you are journaling it but don't go crazy overanalyzing things you know? Some times cats are just cats haha. Well hope you have a great night!
