AMPS today is 331, a bit of a bounce going on from yesterday's action.

I am sooo happy it is Friday, and I was woken up by a snuggly purring kitty this morning :smile: the best way to wake up!

Thank you for your comments on our condo. Gracie has been doing so much better on levemir than lantus. I got to thinking yesterday that I was telling you to always get a +2 and then you'd look at Gracie's SS and say "why don't you get one?" :lol: :lol: :lol: So...just to let you know...we don't because Gracie is on lev and her onset is usually not until +5. If I get a dropping PS number, I'll get a +2 (like today) but typically I wait till +3 or +4. If you look at her lantus SS, you'll see there were very, very few times when we didn't and that was because we knew her so well and knew when she was just starting a bounce so we'd give her ears a break.

We have worked very hard to learn how to manage her curve with food....she still sneaks up on us once in a while, though.

I think alot of folks do (and I have been) order syringes from American Diabetes Wholesale: ADW. If you go on mrrebates.com and join there, you can access ADW through that site and get coupons and rebates. Those who have Relion Confirm meters also order the Arkay strips...they are a generic strip that works in the Relion Confirm and are much cheaper.

Thanks for the link, Marje. I do use a ReliOn Confirm so I will have to check out those generic strips!

So Levemir has a later onset than Lantus - is that the main difference between them? Just curious, we use them pretty much interchangeably in humans but as we all know cats are completely different. Glad it is working so well for Gracie, she is lucky to have such dedicated beans! :-D

Hope Bailey clears the pinks for you soon Melissa! I order my strips off of ADW for my Relion. They are Arkay. It is cheaper to buy the meter +200 strips for around $45 than just the strips. All that means is I have quite a few backup meters now. :lol: Like Marje said, you also get I think 4% back if you go through mrrebates.com.

Hi Melissa:

Levemir helps bouncy kitties flatten, usually. The later onset helps with the dives that some kitties get on lantus. It also doesn't sting altho Gracie never got much lantus or levemir so she never acted like it bothered her. I've heard lantus stings at higher doses. It also has a much later nadir; Gracie usually nadirs at +12 and so I can shoot low numbers knowing she will typically rise after PS before she onsets. I really like lev alot. Ann moved Tess from lantus to lev and it has helped Tess's big dives, too.
 
Bailey seems to be coming down from her bounce now. She had a + 6 of 162 which I did not post because work was insanely busy. Friday night at the hospital often is :lol: but I was short a pharmacist (or two) all night - was by myself for a while! Good thing Bailey behaved herself for DH because he was on his own. It is good to be home and I am glad it's the weekend.

How bizarre that a meter and strips is cheaper than just strips! I guess I could use an extra meter or two... ohmygod_smile
