he is eating almost normally now.. but is still being picky and doesnt want FF.. just wellness and dried chicken. He usually loves FF but he still sniffs and walks away. He had a fairly solid movement last night with some diarrhea at one end so looking better. Plus he was play fighting with Bailey just now.

Someone had diarrhea though and now I am wondering WTF because I think it might be my civvie cat and it might be food poisoning.. heres why

1. Tiggy improved after he stopped eating regular food - in fact he really improved before the drugs had a chance to work..
2. Tiggy never covers his poo. His regular poo as described above wasn't covered, and neither was any of it from previous. But last night the other batch of diarrhea was well covered (civvie cat?).
3. The civvie cat isnt eating as much now either. Wont eat the FF. She threw up green bile on Thursday night too which got me keeping an eye on her.
4. There is nothing they could have gotten into that would have caused this - and the civvie cat is really picky and wouldnt eat anything she found on the floor
5. We just bought new batch (june 2014 expiry) of FF at the weekend - and the issue started just after that.
6. ? however Bailey is fine, no diarrhea and will eat anything.

I am wondering if its the FF or wellness. I am cutting it out for now. Cant see anything about a recall?

Re: 11/17 Tiggy AMPS 149 food poisoning?

Is there any chance anyone has a bacterial infection they are spreading or any kind of parasite (which are difficult to detect).

Not sure about recalls....I don't feed FF but haven't heard anything about WN and none of mine (who eat WN) are having liquipoos (anti jinx).

You know you may be right.. could be a bacterial infection.. and the flagyl cleared it up and now Cookie caught it. I cleaned and bleached all the bowls and litter trays and gave her one of Tiggys flagyls. Is there anything else I can be doing to make sure I cleaned it all? I mean couldnt it be spread throughout the house on every surface by now??

Wonder if Tiggy caught it at the vet?

Re: 11/17 Tiggy AMPS 149 +3 166 - bacterial infection

Just be careful with bleach. It's toxic.

Bacteria need a pretty narrow bandwidth of conditions to survive. The temperature, moisture, nutrients all have to be pretty specific for those kinds of bugs to survive. The litter box is probably the point of cross contamination. I'd dump the litter and use fresh. I'd also call the vet and get a prescription for Flagyl for both cats and find out if Bailey should be on Flagyl prophylactically.

Yep dumped the litter. She hasnt had another episode since my prior post. Just gave her a second dose of Flagyl and she ate a bit... so far so good...
