Re: 11/17 Tidus AMPS 203 +4/267 +6/246 PMPS 240

Hi Jenn,
I saw your note on the SS about the faint color on the ketostix this morning. Any change if you've been able to test again?

I also saw they asked you to stay at this dose for 5 days? That's the plan, right?
The only thing confusing is the 259 on the SS but it's "blue". Is the color wrong, or was the number 159?

Are you able to keep getting him to snack on his own, or are you using just the tube?

Hope he's feeling better, and that you are doing well too.

Carl

I will retest for ketones.

I am going to follow the 5 day plan for now.

I corrected the color of the "259" should be yellow, not blue

He ate breakfast on his own, took to vet to make sure tube was still in place.

He's slowly getting back to "normal"

Hey, Jenn! Glad to see you back.

Most of Wellness flavors are not novel proteins. There are some Merrick Before the Grain that are. Generally, look for duck, venison, quail or even kangaroo. I don't believe sweet potato is a problem as far as gluten. If you're concerned about allergy, beef and fish are usually the varieties that are most problematic.

I was from yesterday's condo that the vet wants you to keep Tidus at a dose for 5 days. If you start to see ketones, you might want to call the vet and see about adjusting the dose. We really do understand the need for the dose to stabilize but it's usually only the initial dose of Lantus that needs extra time for the depot to form. I think that approach needs to be weighed against whether ketones are present.

I am going to look into better food options right now the Wellness is the mushiest I can find to get him to eat. He seems to prefer "licking" his food rather than eating it right now, if that makes sense. Just trying to get him to eat enough of ANYTHING that won't terribly effect his BG's

So far not seeing any keytones. We are on day 3 of 5 according the vet's instructions for increasing. Luckily I can monitor him, not sure what would happen if he was with someone who isn't home as much as I am.
