I guess we're going to give an increase on the insulin tonight!

I'm likely going to get a new script for his Lantus and just bite the bullet and try a brand new pen and trash the newly opened one to test for efficiency, within the next coming days. My fridge is unreliable and freezes stuff all the time... and I have a scary feeling it may have all frozen and thawed (7 pens worth!!!!) His numbers are just so whacky and inconsistent lately and I just have a bad feeling. He spikes for 4+ hours after he eats, when he's usually coming down by +2. It's as if it happened out of no where one day. I'm going to increase anyways, but I guess I'll know by Monday if there's no significant changes after an increase that the insulin has in fact gone bad.

Gotta figure it out! One month til our trip!

Oh boy. Sorry if your Lantus was damaged. That’s such a shame! Good luck with the increase. And I love the new hat pic! :bighug::bighug:

Hi, just speaking from the chemistry side of things, it’s unlikely that one freeze thaw cycle would cause enough degradation to decrease efficacy. The warning labels of do not freeze are usually just being overly cautious. Check to see if you have any precipitation or floaters in it, that’s typically when you’d expect to see a loss of potency. For future to minimize concern, maybe store in a little insulated bag to prevent extreme shifts to your pens inside your fridge. Good luck with your increase :cat:
