Since Khan was fed the high carb food yesterday his numbers have been high. Is there a rebound or something I need to worry about since his number did drop down to 58 mid day yesterday? I gave 1.5u Pmps last night then this morning only gave 1.0u. Only 1u since I'm nervous some rebound or something like that may happen.

morning guys! I know that sometimes when a cat drops down into the lower number range, they can bounce back from that. Almost "panicking" at being low for awhile .. sometimes it can take a kitty up to 72 hours to clear the bounce ... no dosing advice here, but I'm sure someone with much more intelligence then me will come along soon! Have a great day guys!

Yes that is what I was thinking however I'm still new at this and still not fully confident on understanding the "big" picture of exactly what can happen .. if late on a shot or early on a shot.. if BG is low and high carb food is given.. then when is a shot given? and is the dose reduced? I'll reread that sticky on shooting on low numbers.

I'm the type that it may take a few times telling me before it actually sinks in and I "get it" but you know that is ok with me since I'll keep asking/posting and being open to advice.

Hi (Jenee? Is that your name? Or am Imixing you up with someone else?) You did a great job with that 58! Normally, you would feed a bit of food and test and feed a bit more at a time to keep him surfing, but you had to go back to work...that was why I suggested HC and to leave it out for him...for safety. He was not too low...but you don't want him dropping lower when you aren't there.

The effects of the HC food you left out for Khan wouldn't last this long, it would only stick around a few hours. The high numbers you saw last night were a bounce from Khan getting down into those pretty greens...the 58 was a great number, in the normal range, but Khan's liver isn't used to seeing those normal numbers so it dumped glucose and hormones into his system to "protect" him from going hypo. Some kItties bounce even from blue numbers, it is very common, and the bounce will clear on it's own...there's nothing you need to do differently. As Devon said, it can take up to 72 hours for the bounce to clear.

I would go back to the 1.5u dose tonight. He is doing well, he just needs to clear the bounce.
