So how'd you figure when to get him his smaller meals throughout the day?
Also, I have an actual doctor's appointment for myself tomorrow. I have to leave half hour before he eats his 2nd time at +2. Will he be ok if he's not fed again to till his +4? I can't leave it out, as his fur family will just say it on him. :/
I didn't
Before being diagnosed, he was free fed dry food. Actually 5 months in and he was still free fed dry food, as the old vet never advised us to switch. Because of this I probably never realised his appetite (I believe this is referred to as polyphagia).
Once he was switched to wet food entirely this became apparent, and he'd wake us up in the middle of the night for food.
We got an automatic feeder, but set it for 5, he'd come crying for food at 4. Set it for 4, he'd be crying for food at 3.
Getting him tested during those times was an adventure in itself, he'd struggle to get away to beg for food.
Long story short, I ended up feeding him whenever he asked for food, but trying not to do it 2 hours before his shot, as I understood that could give me a false ideea of where he was at.
And if I knew I was leaving after the shot and there was a chance he'd drop too low, I'd feed him some MC before. I'd prefer he was higher rather than lower if I was away.
