WCR: mocha is starting the day off in yellow which is much nicer then pink. I think she had a pretty good surf going last night in the blues but silly beans slept through the alarm for her snack at +4.5 so that was a half hour late (+5) and then we got back up at +6 to give her the last of her snack for the night but didn't test because she had been doing so well.

I asked a question last night about mochas feeding schedule and I think since it was late I didn't get many eyes on it. My question is this, we are trying to move mochas nighttime last snack back a bit so she doesn't have the high amps in the morning. Right now we get up at +4.5, +6, +8. We could get up at +4.5, +6 and +7 but we are thinking it would be nice to get up at +4.5, and +6 but to give her MORE food at +6 and then not get up any more through the night for snacks. She would get 1/4 can of a 5.5oz can versus her normal 1/8 of a can. Would that be a good call or not really?

Good morning.
To answer your food question......you can always experiment and see how ot works for Mocha.
Most of Putty's snacks are early in the cycle unless he is going low late in the cycle. He gets his last snack anytime between +5 and +6 at night.

Attie gets dinner about 6,

bedtime snack about 9 or 10

and then a 1am (mid-cycle) feeding. He doesn't let ya' sleep through it. Got a fancy feeder thingy....he still gets me up and I have to point it out to him. He knows it is there...I think he just likes having someone stand there and watch him eat. ohmygod_smile

Tray is keeping Mocha company in the sunshine yellow this morning.
Hope they both see some blues and greens.

I think you should just go ahead and experiment with the food thing. It's really the only way to find out. Good luck

The 287 is awsome, but I know you will be able to come down and play in the blue/green numbers today and make it a "Spectacular Tuesday".

That sounds like a good plan to me....then you will see how the numbers look after a couple of days....it can always be adjusted, but I think that is a good place to start! Hope you have a good day....Maybe some blues later Mocha?

I would agree - try it an see what happens. We are in the group that feed mini meals at ps, 1, 2, 3. We were feeding an additional at +9. We have since eliminated the +9. there was a huge discussion on this in Gracie's condo back on 11/10 i think. I know we feed the way we do because Mannie is a very bouncy kitty and this work best for him, reduces the boucnes, etc. Eliminating the +9 is suppsed to let the insulin follow is normal path, the late feedings were in theory affecting this, giving us higher ps numbers. anyways -- alot of ramble here - sorry. I'd try it, see what happens. Good luck!

And yes - yellow is better than pink, and I hope that Mocha has a great cycle(s) today.

Devon --

There really isn't much more than trial and error when it comes to when you feed. It is very much an ECID situation. Like Miriam suggested, try one feeding schedule for a couple of weeks and collect the data. Try a different schedule and see if there are any changes. I would just make sure that you do the trial for a couple of weeks at least. You want to get a good cross section of Mocha's cycles and you want to make sure you're giving a change in feeding schedule enough time to show it's effect.

Foods and their timing are so important and so variable. I'd try the change, but Sienne is right. They take time to adjust so give it a chance.

Great numbers for Mocha!! Wow...that is super.

Agreed on the feeding schedule..ECID but Jill indicated to me that feeding at +9 is like riding a bike uphill with your brakes on. Here's the link to Gracie's condos for the two days where we discussed foods:
