Morning!

Yesterday’s post:

Should I be thinking about a BG curve and dose increase soon? Today is the start of day 6. We should have the depot built up by now but I am still transitioning him from high-carb dry to Dr. Elsey’s low carb dry. I’m hoping to have the diet change done in the next couple days.

Maybe I can get a comfortable drop in BG with the diet?

Pookey is still urinating 4 times a day, so I would really like to get him into a lower range.

Thank you! - Tim

Do a curve tomorrow. From the dosing sticky:

After 1 week at a given dose perform a 12 hour curve, testing every 2 hours OR perform an 18 hour curve, testing every 3 hours. Note: Random spot checks are often helpful to "fill in the blanks" on kitty's spreadsheet. The goal is to learn how low the current dose is dropping kitty prior to making dose adjustments.

OK. I’ll report back with results from the curve and we can see about dose.

Hi Tim, good luck with your curve. I hope Pookey is a good boy and cooperates. Hoping the diet transition helps a great deal!
Have a safe day :bighug::cat:

You might want to consider adding some canned food to his diet if you can find one he likes. Males are prone to blocking and having crystals if eating dry food. Max blocked when he was about 5 years old and I almost lost him. The RX food was not his friend and he did much better on a canned diet. Before the switch he urinated just two times a day.

I am open to that. I’m sure I can find some recommendations in the search but do you have one you prefer?

How would his eating schedule change with wet? Maybe feed the wet after AMPS and PMPS? Right now I’m loosely free feeding him the Dr. Elsey’s because I don’t want him to be hungry.

Most pates are good. I fed Max fancy feast classics which is low carb pate but my current cats are raw fed. There are food lists on the main forum. Diane @Diane Tyler's Mom GA is really good with food suggestions. You could start with amps/pmps and see how he likes it. You go slowly to avoid stomach upset like you have with switching to YA.

Tyler was blocked once, had to take him to the ER ,

He had struvite crystals ,I needed to change his food.

The food that was suggested by the ER was too high in carbs so I found this and have been feeding this , never raised his BG and knock on wood hadn't been blocked since

Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Health Beef & Chicken Entree flavor Pate

Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Health Chicken Entree

They are both low carb and low in phosphorus

The Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Health islow carb and low phosphorus
Beef and Chicken Entree pate
Carbs are around 4.80
Phosphorus is 1.44 dry matter

They also have Chicken Entree in Gravy which isn't pate it like tiny pieces of chicken like the size of a chicklet piece of gum lol remember them, they are like tiny tiny chunks
Carbs are 4.5
Phosphorus 0.78 dry matter
