Just another quick suggestion to add to Sienne's excellent suggestion of the C&S. I would talk to my vet about rechecking his urine BEFORE you finish the AB. If you finish the AB, check it, bacteria is still there, then you have to restart the AB or another one and that can cause problems in the long run. What you don't want to happen is for him to become AB resistant. So ask your regular vet if it's not a better idea to recheck a couple days before the AB is finished so if the bacteria remains, he can switch the AB or you can continue the same one for a little longer. The other thing is that Baytril is usually a better AB for treating bladder issues. But the C&S is the best way to go and that will help identify the appropriate AB. Hope he's better.

Keri, I'm glad you got Mowgli checked last night, I'm sure you felt a lot better after he ate too! :smile:

I don't have experience with UTIs in cats, so I will defer to others with more experience. However, when my DD has had strep throat and was put on AB, they would not recheck her until a few days after the AB were finished because they said that the AB would cause a (possibly) false negative test. Not sure if that's true with UTIs in cats, though?

I would talk to your vet as Sienne suggested. Remember that we are not vets.

don't worry i know none of us are vets..but many of you have experience with vast things...
i will call my vet...
i appreciate the feedback, and am trying to not be so stressed...and am trying to keep my finances in order...
i hate money... alot...

Spoke with the vet.... they are wanting to check him while he is still ON the a/b, as that way if his bacterial infection isn't gone they can either give another a/b dependent on the tests of course, or extend the course of the a/b he is on..
apparently they are surprised that they only gave him 5days worth...
anyway...let the saga continue...

Hopefully he'll get better soon.
 
Hi Keri. Wow poor Mowgli. A bladder infection on top of everything else. I sure hope the antibiotic works and he's feeling better. Poor guy. Getting rid of the infection will probably help his numbers too.
