I'm not sure if I have found his magic dose (for the moment) or what, but I haven't seen these numbers in a very long time while he was consuming food.

I don't think I need to worry about insulin resistance anymore at the moment.

Yesterday his numbers weren't great, but that is my fault. I decided to give him friskies because he isn't eating the FF like he should. I didn't divide the can up properly and he scarfed the entire can down.

On the food chart, if I am reading it correctly, some of these friskies pates are only 1 or 2% higher than the ff and there is 2 oz more food. While I know neither are extremely nutritional for him, he prefers the friskies. I picked up a few more of the pates that weren't fish and that are lower on the carb scale. I purchased a can of werbuva, but at $3 a can, it isn't in my budget. He needs a minimum of 10oz of wet a day.

Just wanted to update everyone on his potential breakthrough. I have retested numbers a few times this morning. I was sure there had to be a mistake.

Hi Sybil, glad to hear Basic is responding to the dose. How did your Libre covering (band) work out? Can I see a photo on him of what you created? I hope it's working out well for both of you! :bighug:

I installed it and put a shirt on him. He isn't thrilled and acts like he can't walk until he's hungry or wants to play. I've ordered some Tegaderm patches.

I'm currently trying to cover foam to make RV cushions for my nephew. I haven't had a chance to try to make the band/belt. This project has consumed me as of late.

I was shocked how easy the libre was to install. Seems I was worried for nothing. The 3 failed ones have me worried, but I'm hopeful that because I installed them myself and didn't use vetbond, it will work. I need it now more than ever, if he's going to be bouncing like this.

If I make the band, I'll share it and I'll save the pattern I use, to share in case someone else could use it.

Thanks for responding.

That’s great news that you had such success installing the Libre. I think it’s not bad to do either. Just takes some practice.
We use a tee shirt also and that seems to work out. I don’t think Ivy likes to wear it, but I know she would rip it off if I didn’t have it covered.
One time I tested her and to see what would happen and of course she ripped it right off, so that was the end of that.
I do use the Tegaderm also, but it is under the T-shirt.
Some cats don’t seem bothered by the Libre and don’t need a shirt on them, but my cat definitely does.

If you had a libre fail, you can contact the manufacturer and they will replace them. You just can’t say it’s for an animal.

Best of luck! :bighug:

I don't think I want to risk giving him the opportunity to remove it. He doesn't really leave things alone. I wish he did for his own sake, because he has cracked me up with this shirt.

I'm curious to see the differnece in numbers between my meter and my Libre. I'm going to use my meter before going to sleep to see if they are comparable and document the difference, if any.

Thanks. We need all the luck we can get. Him refusing to eat FF now has put me in a bad predicament for managing his diabetes.

Enjoy your evening.

The numbers will be very different on your other meter, so don’t be surprised when you see that.
I really use the Libre as a guide, and to alert me when Ivy is going very low, when I need to be very concerned and do an ear prick to be sure of the actual number.

You’re off to a great start. :cat:
