Pirate Fitzel's Condo Cove

Marje, Liz, Chris, Sienne - I didn't think we'd be missed with so much going on. Thank you for stopping by to check in on us.

Fitzel has become VERY aggressive. She's picking NASTY fights with all of her siblings. I've made sure she's getting her bupe every 8 hours - (the syringes are pre-filled so I feel I can let someone else do this - I check them to be sure there's no evaporation) - but I'm wondering if she's still in pain - or maybe the bupe is making her a bit psychotic?

She doesn't like any of her siblings. The kitties she bonded with have all GA in the last 3 years. Fitzel took it very hard and still looks for them in their special spots. We've saved a few toys that Mari Morgaine and Buddha (the GA's) played with and make sure Fitzel has access to them, but after all this time we don't know if they've retained any scent. Even though she doesn't like her brother and sisters, Fitzel's normal M.O. would be to ignore them. To not be where they were. Now, she seeks them out to fight. This is so troubling.

I've upped Fitzel's Rescue Remedy but I don't know if it's helping - would she be even more aggressive without it?

I've put in a call to my vet and am waiting to hear back. I'm not sure if something else is going on - though her u/s just a few weeks ago was fairly benign. Nothing was brewing. No masses. No nodules. No inflammation except for her colon. She's not exhibiting any other signs that this is now bothering her as her LB habits are normal. No ketones in her urine either. Well formed BM deposits and no straining or diarrhea.

Again, thank you for checking in on us. It's good not to feel all alone even when I can't get to the computer on a regular basis to post or respond.

((((Shai)))) That sounds very difficult for everyone. Anne and I each had cats when we got together and they never did get along. I wish we had contacted an animal communicator about that situation to see if there was something we could have done. We regularly use someone now and it's amazing how calm the kitties are after she talks to them. By the way, she's in CO and we're in AZ so it works long distance. I hope you can figure out something for Fitzel.

(((Shai))) I'm sorry that the Pirate is feeling out of sorts. Have you ever tried Feliway diffusers? The cheapest place I've seen them is Petsmart. It's a plug-in that sends out calming pheromones. It's also available in a spray, which I've used to spray the inside of a cat carrier or car when traveling with Neko. My two cats didn't hit it off immediately, and I put Feliways throughout the house. I don't have them out any longer, but Neko was originally really unhappy with civie Theo's presence and I think they helped.

One of my dearest friends cats became very aggressive recently. There's always been a history of intermittent aggression but it reached critical mass. Her cat is now getting a dose of Prozac daily. It's early to tell if it's working but it seems to have quieted things down.

Tucker and Sophie HATED each other for months. I used the same brush on both of them, keeping the hair from each on the brush. Basically I was spreading their smells between themselves. I was told using a towel to give each cat a good rubdown, then using the same one on the other cat did the same thing.
They tolerate each other now...... and can actually eat out of the same food bowl if hungry!

Gracie didn't like Tobey but she wasn't aggressive. It took them a couple months to bond ....I used the feliway diffusers. I also have a great animal communicator. She is very reasonable and very good. She could tell you how Fitzel is feeling and why.

Big hugs!
